In general, she's sort of bitchy about politics.

I wasn't suggesting you keep hanging out with her, it's just that I think inadvertently she said something nice about you minus the loser crack, which I remember you said when it happened. Kids are immature, they get sticks up their ass for the weirdest of reasons.

I feel like I've fucked up in life. The odds of me finding love are virtually nil given how most people meet their SOs.

While you may have fucked up in life, there are many fish in the sea. To carry on with that metaphor: If you swim around in the pond you've got yourself stuck in, you'll find out you're not the only fish that did, and most of them are probably scared they've done the same thing. Meet those fish, perhaps one of them is cool.

It's hard to find someone compatible for the meantime given my lack of friends offline these days and my attraction being skewed more female than male while working in a field that is 90-95% male. Not well suited for bars and online dating is full of catfishing and other schemes.

Yeah, catfishing is a thing, but so are car-accidents. A lot of relationships begin online, pretty solid, long-lasting relationships. You shouldn't be so quick to discount online dating. And 24 is about 3 years older than me, and certainly not older than NS by a decade since the minimum age is 13. In fact, I think most of NS is probably 4-6 years younger than you. What your doing now isn't going to be your whole life either.
