The South. The South never changes.

North Carolina is that weird state in the middle that doesn't fit in either, but leans to the south.

Also, our government is corrupt as feck.

Depends what part of the state you're in for the former statement. Places like Wilmington, Charlotte, and Asheville tend to be far more liberal than most of the state and lean as far from the rest of the south as they can. If I weren't in Charlotte today, I'd have thought they've already packed up and moved the entire city to Vermont.

There are probably lots of people who favored the former status quo before black people pushed for equality too, but Martin Luther King, Jr. pushed forward anyway and let a movement that changed the nation. No reason to be a bigot during a new civil rights movement.

And by golly, please don't sport the North Carolina flag as a way to show your support for this unconstitutional law.

What a great day in Georgia. You learn your governor vetoes a horribly discriminatory bill. You feel genuinely proud of him. But, when you actually read about it, you see that he's just bought out by big corporations. And then you feel a mixture of disgust and sad resignation with a dash of relief and a sprinkle of respect. Ugh.

Probably because the corporate lobbyists were heavily pressuring him to veto the bill from the beginning.

There's a fundamental difference between dark-skinned people and homosexual people. Homosexual people act against what is deemed conscientious. It is widely known, even from the past, males are supposed to marry females to reproduce. Homosexuality defies that kind of concept. Dark-skinned people were naturally made dark with bodily functions and character equivalent to those of humans. Well, both are humans, but if you were to actually compare the two.

I know this comment has no place in this thread, but what part of a market is "free" when corporations can threaten the jobs of Georgians just because they don't like a particular bill? It just seems so wrong and corrupt to me. The outcome was good, but still...

Time for a new three-fifths compromise? My gay neighbors should only be paying 3/5 the amount of taxes I pay, because they're only 3/5 the person I am.

Homosexual people are people nonetheless, and of all people, Gim, I would expect you to know what the Bible says about judgment. It is neither your place or mine to judge anybody, that's not our job. We're meant to be accepting and kind to all of God's people, and those homosexuals that you're trying to distance yourself from are God's people too. What would Jesus say about you saying rude things about part of God's creation?

ignoring the fact that im not a bigot because im extremely tolerant of lgbt and other movements i oppose, why is being a bigot inherently evil?

besides, i support letting states decide, rather than squelching support for or opposition to LGBT at the federal level. wouldn't that be less bigoted by being fairer (more tolerant, if you will) to all sides?

Dark-skinned people were naturally made dark with bodily functions and character equivalent to those of humans. Well, both are humans, but if you were to actually compare the two.
