You can stop beating what is effectively a dead horse now. :lol2:

Sorry, I just had to get something mildly amusing in.

Anyhow, this law is stupid, I believe the state gov is stupid, I believe the Greensboro City Council should be an absolute power in the state. Praise Bacon.

That is contradictory because when this nation was founded on unbiased and secular values which instills rights supposedly available to and usable by EVERY MEMBER OF THE POPULATION, we should not marginalize the religious or the LGBT population! It also contradictory to the freedom of speech which our nation proudly presents.

Clearly this town passing such an ordinance is a tremendous overreach and breaches the rights of the state, I expect state Republicans to harshly and angrily pass a bill in the next week to condemn the city for overstepping its boundaries and passing such a law that only the state holds the rights to pass. *nods*

I wouldn't say "hard-headed", given that such a word means, according to Oxford, "Practical and realistic; not sentimental". I would say that Conservatism, in how I've seen it most often, is more the ideology of stubbornly adhering to the way things were in the past, or appealing to the past in a manner to preserve the present state of things, as well as a force of reaction against any element of change. Which is fine. After all, you need some friction to keep a vehicle in motion.

Doesn't make it right on this issue, or other issues, but hard-headed I think may not be the proper term. Currently, in this issue especially, its the same as the protests against changing the legal definitions of marriage, and expanding adoption rights, to encompass homosexual couples, and the outcry about the loss the the privileges that Christianity once had through the state to increasingly impose 'Christian values' on an ever increasingly non-Christian population. Its more of a reaction against change and societal evolution, from everything I've seen of it. :)

Indeed, and the retention of the privileged position Christianity has exercised over the centuries on the legal structure. It's definitely something I've seen quite a lot in the Christian reaction to the direction society is moving. Nothing really about the new laws is forbidding the Christian population from practicing their religion in their private life like everyone else, but they still cry foul now because they are losing the control they had over the public sphere to make everyone else follow their religious beliefs.

Its like a person who's grown up with a silver spoon in their mouth getting upset out about how they're having to leave their mansion and might actually have to be around the filthy commoners. :lol2:

I've never understood the hatred for transgendered people.

But even if you are the sort that does hate transgendered people, and I'm sure you know who you are, is this really worth the effort? Think of all the political capital, all the rhetoric and attention, being dedicated to this instead of, say, figuring out why Southern schools are so consistently terrible, or getting your teenagers to stop knocking each other up.

Subjective enforcement will be the method in question. You look like you might be the opposite gender and you get the coppers on you and evicted from the premises. Or expelled/suspended/arrested.
The United Colonies of Earth exists:
to encourage settlement of all habitable worlds in the Galaxy and perhaps the Universe by the human race;
to ensure that human rights are respected, with force if necessary, and that all nations recognize the inevitable and unalienable rights of all human beings regardless of their individual and harmless differences, or Idiosyncrasies;
to represent the interests of all humankind to other sapient species;
to protect all humanity and its’ colonies from unneeded violence or danger;
to promote technological advancement and scientific achievement for the happiness, knowledge and welfare of all humans;
and to facilitate cooperation in the spheres of law, transportation, communication, and measurement between nation-states.

I can see this happening:

*CIS gendered male/female attempts to use restroom*

Store clerk: "You look way too feminine/masculine to be using the men's/women's restroom, you must be one of them evil transgender folk".

Patron: "But I am a man/woman."

Store clerk: "You make me sick".

I can't see these fear mongering laws going down well if they try to enforce them.
