It's fine for you to think that. I'm just explaining why it's naive.

You said: "I simply see no reason as to why governments should be monitoring trade between nations so extensively. Businesses alone should be the ones to establish whom they do business with."

And I gave the reason you claim you didn't see, and explained why your second idea was nonsensical.

It would be harmful for foreign governments to reject a great number of American businesses, so I really don't see how deals make things so special. Greed will compel businesses to extend outwards globally.

The 'harmful' argument is demonstrably historically false. And not just the indirect stuff, like tobacco companies killing their customers. No, far more direct stuff - like the Panics of 1873 and 1893 where businesses deliberately tried to destroy the American national economy for advantage.

As to whether or not greed compels businesses to extend outwards - that's irrelevant. Destroying your own nation to reach a foreign market is not good for your home nation.

ut oh

the Cleveland caveliers are in the NBA finals, playing in the same arena where the republican convention will be held.

ut oh they are going to have to rush through getting ready for the convention--according to Rachel its a 6 weeks job that they will have 4 weeks to get done.

for the greatest, hugest convention in history.

ut oh.

Game 1 is June 2 with a possible Game 7 on the night of June 19 — 30 days from the start of the convention. But Republicans have never built their convention site in less than a month, so they’ve made elaborate contingency arrangements to prepare for an accelerated construction schedule.

If the Cavs force a six- or seven-game series that concludes in Cleveland, the NBA has agreed to finish the game, award the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy to the winning team and vacate the premises within six hours.

By the morning of June 20, moving trucks will be hauling in the staging and lighting. Workers will be stripping seats out of the arena’s lower levels and images of Lebron James likely will be replaced by Trump campaign photos. And a security perimeter will begin going up around the arena.

the convention starts july 18th

Sessions would be open to running as Trump's VP, what do you all think of this?
Personally I think that's a step in the right direction, Trump appeals to the hardline anti-establishment not as extreme conservatives (AltRight) but Sessions appeals to the hardline conservatives that would've been backing Cruz or Rubio.

Trump believes that the drought in California is a conspiracy. http://www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2016-36404323
Mr Trump told an earlier rally in Fresno that California had "no drought", despite the state seeing its driest ever four-year period.
After speaking to farmers who complained of a lack of water for crops, he said: "They don't understand, nobody understands it. There is no drought. They turn the water out into the ocean."

Some water from a river is discharged to the ocean to protect endangered species (not familiar with the science behind it). Trump claims that there's no drought but California's water problems are caused by this.

Obama is Kenyan, California has no drought... What's going to be his next conspiracy theory?

Trumps point was that the state might actually have ample water supplies but the state improperly uses it and causes the shortage. I can't speak for how true that claim is but I wouldn't be surprised if it was true.

You can't speak for how true that claim is, but you're going to express an opinion anyway. Trump also doesn't know, but he's going to make a statement, anyway.

Do you not see the problem?

The information is out there - it's not just the water that is allowed to 'run off' that is causing the problem, because the multi-billion dollar fishing industry that RELIES on that allowed run-off is also being impacted by water shortages. Because reservoirs across California have been experiencing record low levels. Because California is just one claimant on riparian rights to water sources that come from outside the state (like Colorado). Because precipitation levels are historically low.

Trump COULD find all that data. He might not work in that field, but he can sure get people to do it for him. But instead he makes an argument from ignorance.. and you just nod along because 'you wouldn't be surprised'.
