On a serious note, sweet Jesus...it's over. 16 men and Carly entered and 1 man has left. Out of Senators, Governors, the Brother of our Last Republican President (also the son of the President before him.)...and the Republican Party chose Donald J. Trump.

Bush was a horrible candidate, because nobody wanted a another Bush.

I don't think Jeb wanted another Bush in the white house. He sure as hell never acted as if he wanted it.

I guess I can officially throw my full support behind Gary Johnson or whoever the hell the Libertarians nominate.

That is funny, and will not work.

I liked her drawl.
He whose will and desire in conversation is to establish his own opinion, even though what he says is true, should recognize that he is sick with the devil’s disease. And if he behaves like this only in conversation with his equals, then perhaps the rebuke of his superiors may heal him. If Trump drove libertarians from the party, I might actually become a serious Republican. Neoliberals have been a blight on conservatism.

The GOP will survive. Sadly our two party system will continue.

Oh, absolutely ...and it's conservative conservation of it's methods will also survive, but kind of like this:

The GOP has just wrecked. It will be towed away, crushed, sold as scrap, melted down and rebuilt into something completely different.

But yes, it survives bc of the Law of Conservation of Matter

No worries. But right now, it's just wrecked. :lol2:

Oh, I got driven from the Republican party long before Trump. The circlejerk of jerks seeing who could go the furthest to the right drove me away. The irrational hatred for LGBT folks drove me away. The failure to follow their own principle that government should be small drove me away. The warmongering drove me away. The fact that I was constantly called a RINO because I dared not to be a Tea Partier drove me away. The unadulterated pretentiousness drove me away. The blatant disregard for the environment drove me away.

Trump is an additional straw, but the camel's back broke a long time ago. The Kasich/Pataki types gave me a small hope that the Republican party was not a lost cause, that it could find its way back to being a decent conservative option. But then America never gave Pataki even a look, and Kasich only gained the small amount of support he did by overstaying his welcome. Nope I have a few libertarian tendencies, but I'm not a libertarian. I wish my conscience would allow me to vote for someone else. It won't. The options are bad, and I have to vote for the only one I feel would do a decent job, aka Gary Johnson.

Well NSGers, after much speculation and guessing, we finally have our Republican nominee for president. Donald J. Trump. This means that he will be facing of either Clinton or Sanders in the general election this November. The world will now know the true extent of America's racial tension, and hawkish foreign policy attitude. This could lead to serious issues with our allies abroad, particularly with China and Iran. Could this be the end of American democracy?

Well NSG, what happens next?

That's only going to help. The favorite catchphrase of the Republican party is, "Rogue, Washington outsider." To say all these politicians, which have been rejected as ineffectual and feckless, are against him, is only going to strengthen him. It's making him look like an underdog against Washington even though he clearly no longer is.
