I have. I've been burnt by that before though, might see what Yahtzee's had to say about it. I've watched a few vids of the gameplay, and was indeed distracted by the older graphics. I'm sorry Bethesda, I'm really trying!

This is the second time I've seen a person gloat about people dying because it's apparently "funny" that they died in the "NATO Capital" or because Europe is supporting multiculturalism and that's what supposedly led to their deaths.

Some people enjoy acting like dicks in the face of tragedy. Which is disgraceful. As if there was something to prove here when in reality, this is incredibly sad and no one should be thinking they need to score or something. Disgraceful.

I've just had a long night arguing with fellow Christians about the impending death of a priest by getting crucified and they pretty much saying Christians should feel "jealous" or "honored" of it.

At this point, we've pretty much proven that not only can evolution happen, it pretty much must happen since it's basically impossible to prevent it from happening.

Yeah, sometimes the reviews can be a tad fooling.

Ever played BioShock? That was an interesting game series, IMO, with a wonderful OST.

I fucking loved BioShock. That game was by far one of the best franchises I've ever seen (with the exception of the first few bad apples), and it makes me mad there aren't any more being made. Infinite was especially fun, and I played it several times, and then spent time afterwards digging through the lore. The problem is, when I find a game or franchise that I particularly love, that really left a lasting feeling with me, then it's hard not to compare other games to them.

Example. I've never played Fallout before. Never. But I fell in love with Oblivion and Skyrim, and dug through the lore, and modded to my heart's content. Everyone was all hyped for F4, so I decided I'd give it a try. Even though they're two different franchises, I expected Fallout to be a bit similar in some gameplay aspects, and it was. However, compared to the praise I hear people give the previous installments of Fallout, Fallout 4 just felt gutted, unoptimized, with a bunch of half-assed mechanics, and I never bothered finishing the game. I quite literally got bored, and uninstalled it.

So, with Fallout 4 leaving a vile taste in my mouth, it becomes a predicament on deciding whether or not I'm willing to potentially waste money on an earlier installment of the game, and face the potential of further disappointment. What I loved in Skyrim and Oblivion was the depth, and the sort of sandboxy "the world can go fuck itself I'm a farmer now, fuck you and your dragonborn adventure BS" vibe. You didn't have to do the main-quest, you could just sod off and go cause a cheese-avalanche if you pleased, or spend hours hunting and selling furs and letting random things happen to you.

And that's the thing, both Oblivion and Skyrim have replay value. I wouldn't dare give Fallout 4 a second chance if it was a cheating ex-girlfriend with the looks of a Goddess. It still has the personality and depth of a doorknob, and I don't feel like waking up in the morning with a sense of overwhelming disappointment. It's also why I've largely veered from survival games now. I've found a few gems that I've quite enjoyed, The Forest was very well done (even when it was still early-access), with the resource necessity and effort calculated perfectly. However, the survival game market has been saturated with a bunch of cookie-cutter half-assed brainlessly developed pieces of horseshit.

If you're not sure, perhaps you should just give yourself some time to think about it and if you're still not sure afterwards, then think about other games you may want to play, instead of the Fallout franchise.

If you want an interesting trip, and haven't played it yet, check Alice Madness.

I've looked at Alice Madness, I just feel I may not be surprised by it. When it first came out, I watched gameplay of the game constantly. I've always wanted it but I've seen the game in its entirety now; so it doesn't feel like I'll enjoy it as much. As far as Fallout, I'll definitely mull over it for sometime. Another game I loved was Metro, I played both Last Light and 2033, and despite the quirks it had -- the mesh graphics being one of them -- it was fun, had depth, and left you sad that it had ended.

That could be an alternative, in case you decide not to go for Fallout in the end. I mean, it sounds like your experience with Fallout 4 did sour your prospects. If you're going to be spending money on a game, you might as well go for something you'll enjoy.
