No, he looks white. This is not in any way equal to being white.

Haven't you ever watched an American crime drama episode where some guy is black, but looks white and lives his life as an undercover brother, and is all torn up about it (then someone dies because, you know, crime drama)? Law and Order and Cold Case both did this plot for sure.

If you were correct, that having the look is the same as being, this plot line would be impossible and nobody could take it seriously. But in reality many, many people and do - the idea of someone being "black" but looking "white" is entirely comprehensible to them, as is the drama inherent in the premise of having a "torn" identity. The common understanding of race blends physical and social characteristics; if you say a latino "looks white" or an asian "acts white" (or a white "acts black") people generally have no trouble understanding what you mean. If they understood race as entirely a matter of physical appearance they would not get it at all.

Aside from kooky race theorists who spent way too much time constructing precisely defined (and completely imaginary) categories such precise definitions simply don't matter. They do not reflect how the concept is race is understood by most people, especially not those who actually care about it.

If* there are real differences in strength, speed, intelligence, etc distributions that aren't a product of environmental factors, then we're about 30 years away from making them irrelevant / obsolete via genetic selection / engineering.

Even if that weren't the case, those differences would be relatively minor or shifts in the distribution, so it would still make sense to treat individuals on their own merits.

(*A very big If, but there's nothing that would make it physically or logically impossible. It's just that people have been wrong about it a lot before, and have often used the idea to be ***holes. It makes sense to treat it with lots of skepticism.)

There is no such thing as race. It is an artificial construct created by society to reinforce xenophobic tendencies. Any respectable Anthropologist or geneticist will tell you the same.

Skeletons the world over are rolling in their bodies. That sounds painful.

But seriously, bone structure is actually affected by race, unless I'm mistaking it for something else like ethnicity or whatever. For example, as an Asian, I don't have a brow ridge, whereas white people typically do.
