I'm in favor of the Republicans blocking any replacement appointments until there is a new US president because lets face it- the GOP has everything to lose by cooperating with Obama, Clinton, or Sanders. I will go a step further and recommend that the Republicans block any SCOTUS nominations until the bitter end, until the Republican majority in the US congress is voted out.

I quite like this idea. Anything to speed up the demise of a reactionary party.

Not Really, since Hillary has several Litmus test the to be a nominee, the Senate can say anyone she nominates has violate the first unspoken rule of being a scotus nominee, namely being able to say I have never thought about the biggest constitutional issues of our day nor have I formed an opinion about them.

We are discussing an American internal affair. There is no need for diplomacy.

To the extent that SOCTUS possesses original jurisdiction in certain diplomatic instances, there very much exists significant justification for "external" (whatever that actually means) opinion and commentary.

That was, unexpected. I did not agree with most of his decisions (I thought they were based on faulty reasoning) and feel he did more harm then good. That being said, I do not wish death on him at all, and feel bad for his friends and family.

What's the source of this quote? I'm looking at (what I presume to be) the relevant case/opinion, but I'm not seeing it.

I've only quickly pursued it, but it looks like the majority opinion is that claims made on the basis of new evidence are not sufficient for habeas. O'Connor/Kennedy's concurrence appears to claim that "factual innocence" had not actually been established.

I didn't like the man. Thought he was too much of an ideologue. I wouldn't wish death on him nor will I celebrate it. I am sure the party of no will be fighting this with everything they have.

Jesus or Raegan?

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.
