Let's be honest. In this election the ones who might be okay for the country are not gonna get nominated and the ones who end up being nominated are going to be shit candidates.

"Marginally more so" would imply that they actually put some effort NOT being Trump.

None of them have.

Well, the dems are putting up one or the other un-electable candidate. We shall see.

The Democrats have a near-lock. None of the blue states are going to vote for any of the Republican candidates, so the GOP would have to run the table on the purple states (Florida, Ohio, Virginia, Colorado, Nevada) and not lose any of the softer red states. This is not likely.

I withdraw the word "scum" if that is the issue; but note that it was not me who introduced the word. Geilinor was characterizing ALL the members of the bench as "scum" and saying Scalia was not worse than the rest of them. Scalia was, indeed, worse than the rest of them, and by a wide margin, and I will not apologize for saying so.

Which current swing to the right? What makes you think the Republican gains in Congress will continue? It would take sheer incompetence for the Democrats to lose any seats.

You don't have to be in Congress to be Speaker of the House nor a judge to be on the SCOTUS. Or a general or politician to be President. But you can't simultaneously hold office in 2 or 3 of the 3 branches of the government. Just one.

If you're right, then that is exactly why I make snide comments about American politics. If someone can lose to an out and out nutter just for being more left wing than Ed Miliband, then it is pretty much impossible for anything I might say about the USA to be hyperbole.

That said, I don't think you're right at all.
