That seems complete nonsense given it seems to rest on the theory of evolution not existing.

No, it just rests on the vastness of time. Our own intelligent species has existed for only about 200,000 years, and has only developed civilization in the last 8000 of those years, only discovering things like radio and space travel in the last 100. With that, and the fact that the universe is some 13.8 billion years old, it strikes me as odd to assume that a spacefaring civilization would exist at the same time as ours. If evolution with the same genetic material as we have is taking place on another planet, it is more likely that it has either been going on way longer or way shorter; it could have simply not created intelligent life, or its intelligent life could have died out in some cataclysm (there are such times where humanity was brought to the brink in its evolutionary history). Even IF other intelligent life exists in our same frame of evolutionary history, it is still probably either far more, far less, or has had technology develop in an entirely different way.

Possibility of microbiological organisms that have life as defined by biology? Possibly. Complex life that has the capacity to rival or even be better regarding our technology? Maybe.

I think it's very possible that we aren't alone, but I can't know. The galaxy is huge, so it's pretty unlikely we'll ever come into contact with anyone or anything anytime soon, assuming that they actually exist or that they're spacefaring.

Despite the large numbers it uses, I'm of the opinion the Fermi Paradox vastly underestimates the statistics involved.

People who say we are alone in the universe or will never meet aliens i direct to to the movie Contact. We may have picked up alien signal in 1979 its called the Wow signal. Whats to say something like the scenario in Contact couldn't happen? Remember we can only scan a small part of the sky at a time so to say: if we haven't heard anything by now there is no one out there is arrogant.

Secondly Contact's famous closing line is "The Universe is a pretty big place. Its bigger and more beautiful than anything anyone has ever dreamed of before and if its just us seems like an awful waste of space." I think that's true.

I've thought about that sometimes when i've looked up at the stars wondering if aliens exist if someone on a planet around one of those stars is thinking the exact thing at that very moment.

While I believe that some life may exist out of our planet, whether or not they are more or less advanced than us technologically (or even intelligent beings at all) is even more guesswork.

It's not an easy question to answer. There are billions of possibilities so much that it's almost impossible for life not to exist elsewhere. Yet there is no proof. We can only look to the stars and wonder.

the idea was probably that cuz (as far as folks in the last century were concerned) we were ourselves developing tech so fast that we'd get space travel down pretty quickly, and therefore other species would only need a couple centuries or so more on us in order to beat us to the punch.

100 years ago, we knew the sound barrier was impenetrable, 200 years ago we knew heavier than air flight was impossible, 500 years ago we thought light needed a medium to travel through. Everything we know about the universe comes from our ability to perceive it from our own vastly miniscule corner of it. To say that we are alone in the universe just because we haven't found anything yet is nonsense.

Anyone that thinks extraterrestrial life isn't real is delusional. The Universe, being potentially infinite, is home to so many worlds that the chances of humanity being alone are worse than if we aren't.

Are they intelligent? Maybe.

Odds are none of us will ever find out for sure, given the immense amount of time needed to travel to even the closest systems.

Given the mind-numbing vastness of the Universe and the incomprehensibly large number of galaxies, stars, and planets in it, why does this seem like such a logical conclusion to you?

Of course we are not.

There's the Planet Trade Organization wrecking most of the cosmos. And Babidi desperately searching for any energy sources to revive Majin Buu. And the God of Destruction running around asking for feasts and destroying planets. And all those movie villains running around doing their stuff. And whatever new villains will be there in DB Super.

...You know, on second thought, we should probably stop broadcasting and stay as low as possible so they don't find us.

Odds are good that it's too late for that. Broadcasts would be more or less useless, but the changes to the composition of the atmosphere and average temperature are probably pretty goods signs of an industrial society for anyone who knows what to look for.

Too late. Any species with the ability to come to us will find us, whether we're deliberately attempting contact or not. All we can do is hope they're friendly.

I assume there is life in some form in many other places in the galaxy. The thought does not leave me awestruck, nor does it lead to any philosophical or theological shift. So what? No big deal.
