The game is decent, but it's massively overhyped and the fanbase tends to be irritating.

And yes, this belongs in Arts&Fiction.

Far from the greatest game of all time. Overhype like that is one of the many reasons people hate it (besides being edgy fuckfaces who like to hate everything that isn't Nazi-related), y'know.

It's a pretty good RPG blown way out of proportion.

Pretty much this. I kind of want to avoid it now because I know it can never cash the cheques its fandom is writing. It's the same thing that put me off OMG TEH GRAYTEST EVAH stuff like Attack on Titan and other things.

Ignore the fans and just play it on your own terms. I didn't even watch the game beyond a few Vinesauce streams and decided that I wanted to try it out before I started hating on it. If you go into it with an open mind, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

A better comparison would be FNAF, which gets far more praise than it deserves. But like Undertale its another indie developed game with a strong fanbase, except Undertale is better character and plot wise.

FNAF really should have just been left to obscurity. I think it would've been far better off as a one-hit wonder indie game... that and I think FNAF World was just Scott subtly telling his fans to fuck off. Wonder if Toby will do the same.
