I come from speaking a language that has gendered pronouns and articles for objects. Trust me when I say this, English is not bland in that. It just simplifies things.

That's the good thing about English, we don't unnecessarily gender objects that don't have genders. I hated that when taking a year of French during high school.

The freaking pencil doesn't have a penis, it doesn't need to be referred to as male.
