That's true, China and Russia are both unhappy, just to be clear, when I said nuclear radiation, I meant the spread of nuclear radiation by accident, not by detonation.

Fair enough, the NK government isn't known for it's stringent safety measures.

Probably not. They only have about 40 TELs for TBMs, and the majority of their airforce isn't capable of getting off the ground. They have a lot of work to do if they want to be a credible air threat to South Korea.

In short, "fascist" is a modern word for "heretic," branding an individual worthy of excommunication from the body politic. The right uses otherwords ("reverse-racist," "feminazi," "unamerican," "communist") for similiar purposes, but these words have less elastic meanings. All of South Korea's air-defences? The DPRK can field a somewhat credible Air Force capable of inflicting casualties but is it capable of overwhelming and swamping the ROK, much less even deliver a nuclear bomb to Seoul? I highly doubt that.

Their training hours for the air force has sky (heh) rocketed in the past few years. It's still not at US or South Korean flight hours but it's gone up a lot since the 90's.

Plus they have a stupidly dense AAA system.

In the first few hours of a possible Second Korean War, the DPRK has enough artillery pieces situated close enough to the border to level Seoul in hours. That would be the only thing, apart from nuclear weaponry, that can pose a serious threat to South Korea. After those hours, the US forces arrive.

The more modern units of the KPAGF are a very serious threat to Worst Korea, needless to say nobody wants a ground war in Korea.

Well, yea. The bombardment of Seoul would be if South Korea didn't react.
But still, the DPRK has a very large ground force which should be enough to keep the South Koreans at bay for some time, if not push into South Korea. A half hour would be enough to inflict some potentially serious damage to one of the most population dense cities in the world. The Souh Korean's Air Force would probably be unable to take out the thousands of hidden pieces in time, especially if a part of that Air Force is used to aid the air ground troops in pushing back the North Koreans.
The point is no one wants a ground war in Korea, you're right.

How do you think a preemptive strike by South Korea's air force would play out? If the artillery aimed at Seoul was all blown to pieces, would North Korea be able to counter attack conventionally, or would they be as helpless as Egypt was after Israel took out 18 of their air fields in 1967?

It's around 13,000 hidden pieces of artillery. And I believe that's without including the 300 or so rocket artillery pieces. Itd be hard to find them all in time before they could be manned and firing, especially with the DPRK's paranoia on the DMZ.

Given NK has a stupidly dense triple A network with some pretty modern systems it probably wouldn't go that well.

The claim you have made is so stupendously ludicrous and silly in it's sublime stupidity that while normally meriting a rebuttal, is so laughably conceived as to nullify any need to even compose such a rebuttal.

Anyhow, Russian and Chinese media have remained sceptical towards North Korean claims that it successfully detonated a hydrogen bomb.

They just need to get one through to bring about mass destruction. No air-defense is 100% perfect, even Israel's iron dome last I checked can only stop about 90% of threats. 10 out of 100 or so bombs launched would be more than effective to do the job.

I don't think NK would launch an airstrike against Seoul. Land-based artillery and low-flying missiles are much more suited for a surprise assault, while Incheon could also be attacked by naval artillery.

Anyway, NK knows perfectly well that such an attack would spell disaster for themselves, as Russia and China would greenlight an American and Japanese counterstrike. Of course, things would be different if SK went crazy and attacked NK - an event which is even less likely, though.
