Actually, the French had superior tanks. I recall one French tank taking something like 140 direct hits, and still managed to take out 14 German tanks. It was really just a collapse of the French leadership's will to fight (the average French soldier was a very competent fighter), and the fact that Churchill believed the French when they called him up, weeping that the war was over, after they'd only lost one battle (actually, the call happened the very night of the battle), and they'd won several others on that day. But again, we're getting off topic.
