Yeah. You have to be good at it though, if you're bad you aren't able to be understood.
Hi Ohnee chan, whatcha up tas? Ah otay, Where's antee, sooo boreds.
It's complicated to explain, and doesn't come out through text well, it's very much a way you sound whilst speaking versus what you actually say. Those who do it REALLY bad are either creepy, cringe-worthy or boths.

"Onii-chan" is "big brother". "Oni" is a demon, so "Oni-chan" would be "familiar/diminutive demon friend". And then "Onee-chan" is "big sister". How exactly the Japanese distinguish between the three I'm not entirely sure, but NERVUN assures me that they do. Japanese has less phonemes than English, so they have to make do with what they have. Personally I have trouble distinguishing between "kowai" (scary) and "kawaii" (cute) in anime.

There's a stress in the ''ee'' sound, which can help distinguish between ''onii-chan'' and ''onee-san''. Or at least that was my impression whe I took Japanese. Also, well, context. :p

I pronounce the o, as I am sure you are not supposed to. I apologize if my use of other's languages could be at all offensive, I just love breaking ways to say things. Those words are all similar. I'd say them all the same actually.

Well, it's not like anyone is forcing you to relax, so technically there aren't any days that you have to relax.

Apparently Finnish and English words for "sister" are cognates, but quite far removed from each other.
Or at least they seem to be derived from same root.

Because you were talking about words of familial relations. :p

For some reason, I used to see you and Mavorpen as interchangeable, which is especially weird since you two have very different posting styles.

I don't know, really. I guess it was the phonetic similarities, though those aren't all that impressive either.
