I'm aware of that. But removing it from being a part of erotic love, as contraceptives do, gives a lie to an act of total self-giving.

That's true. I'd agree that contraceptives make sex is less complete, though I wouldn't say they make it a sin.

Which doesn't matter, as they don't have any power.
Also, It's not true. It's tied to conservative politics, monarchism, etc.
Russo-Byzantine Empire wrote:This is important because they make better symbols in times of crisis.

How is an inherited title a good symbol in crisis?
Russo-Byzantine Empire wrote:Also, in theory the vast majority of constitutional monarchs do have actual power; not absolute power, though. I am aware that this is not true in practice; this should change. I am not a monarchist because I am a traditionalist, I am a monarchist because Constitutional Monarchy has consistently been the system that has lead to and maintained democracy the best, with the least violence. You are right that monarchism does not have to be right wing, however the Poll equates it with right wing thought and that means it is a valid point of discussion.

Can you demonstrate causation, not just correlation?

As I stated before, in the majority of Constitutional Monarchies, the monarchy at least in theory has some power. Regarding being a symbol, this is a matter of personal opinion, but it is born from my hatred of politicians. I would rather fight for someone who has represented my nation from birth than for someone who lied and bought their way to power, and who I might not have even voted for. For example, it wasn't themPrime Minister who was a symbol of resistance in occupied Denmark during WWII, it was King Christian X. Finally, the reason why Constitutional Monarchies are better at creating democracies than Republics is that Constitutional Monarchies create democracy with the cooperation of the upper, middle, and lower classes, while Republics are almost always born from revolutions. Revolutions being an almost inherently violent affair, they also empower the people most willing to use violence. In France it was the Jacobins, in Russia it was the Bolsheviks, in Germany it was the Nazis, in Cambodia it was the Khmer Rouge, etc. In Constitutional Monarchies, meanwhile, cooperation leads to democracy, and is cooperation not the essence of an ideal democracy?

While I am a most calm person and keep most of my opinions in my collection of written essays and among friends, there does arise times where I find it most pertinent to bring up my position to common folk or other academics in the daily life. Between these discussions and those I read online, I have come to have a particular hatred for the terms and associative qualities of "Civilized", "Progress", "Freedom/Liberty", and "Human Rights". The attitude of their importance being unquestionable is ludicrous, hypocritical, and frankly insulting.

Im glad you agree comrade from across the Asian landmass. I find that such terms in use are nothing more then barriers to true meaningful debate and discussion, 'Civilized' is subjective, 'Progress' is simply towards one agenda or the next not a straight line to a better society, the existence thereof being subjective itself, 'Freedom' isnt real but an illusion for the strong to control the weak in a deceptive manner, and 'Human rights' are simply an excuse for one to be a self righteous indignant. Once people understand this, they will be much easier to converse with.

While I don't personally object to the use of any of those words except progress(and even then, it's mostly because it gets used to describe things no reasonable person should consider progress/exclude good things), it annoys me when people misuse them incessantly.

"Progress" is probably the most irritating appeal that's consistently employed.

Merrily ignoring the tendency of Protestants to be efficient merchants, because it's actually all about the silver, I see. Your knowledge of history is sorely lacking, but that doesn't really surprise me.

All that remains is to show that biological systems replicate in such a way as to satisfy the minimal criteria required for evolution to apply to them, something which has already been adequately shown time and again. At this point, we've pretty much proven that not only can evolution happen, it pretty much must happen since it's basically impossible to prevent it from happening.

This is the right-wing discussion thread. You have to be able to do that just to get in.

Even Anglican conservatives tend to be Anglo-Catholic rather than Protestant (Scruton, John Milbank, Peter Hitchens, T.S. Eliot, etc.)

Was just wondering, what do you think will happen if Singapore tries to colonise Syria?

Define "true conservative". There are multiple forms of conservatism.
