I didn't know him that well, but I had talked to him and seen him around. I'm not sure about it personally, but my condolences, at least, to friends and family.

I remember Dyakovo when I used to frequent NSG on my other nation, United Marktoria. He was extremely friendly, and an amazing person in general. I haven't been on NSG for years , but I still remember him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He will definitely be missed.

Standby, cleanup in progress.

Cleanup complete. Common Sense went buh-bye. Dya would be so happy, his remembrance thread got to cause the mods one last headache. :P

Oh shit.

I saw "in memory" in people's sigs; I didn't know he actually died in real life. The whole time I've been on NSG, he's been there.

Damn. He and I never saw eye-to-eye on religious or political topics for the most part, but it's still sad to hear that he died. As someone who has family in the truck driving business, my heart goes out to his family.

Nope, I never spoke or even saw him in the threads where I am. Or is it probably because I just don't look properly.

My point is that all this coming from you is mildly getting on my nerves, someone that actually knew him, though not nearly as well as many here.

Not that I have any power or sway. I've no idea how others feel. Just so you know how it comes off to me.

That's really too bad. It's almost kind of a wake up call, humanizing the people behind the screen - they're just as subject to the realities of the outside world as any of us, and the world doesn't take in considerations for things like online forums.

Привет

Dyakovo was like a rock.

Steadfast, unfazed, and always there. And like a true rock, many people stubbed their toe against you. But that does not change the rock.

Dyakovo, you will be missed for your unwavering ideals, your jokes and your commitment to the community at large.

RIP.

Nunc Lento Sonitu Dicunt, Morieris

Perchance, he for whom this bell tolls may be so ill, as that he knows not it tolls for him; and perchance I may think myself so much better than I am, as that they who are about me, and see my state, may have caused it to toll for me, and I know not that.

Who casts not up his eye to the sun when it rises? but who takes off his eye from a comet when that breaks out? Who bends not his ear to any bell which upon any occasion rings? but who can remove it from that bell which is passing a piece of himself out of this world?

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were: any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

No. Dya was supposed to live forever. He argued hard, he played hard, you know what to expect from him. He was honest about who he was, and unashamed and unapologetic for it. He had nothing to be ashamed of. He had honor. He loved his wife and family - you would never hear so much as a hint of disrespect for Koshka from him. He struggled through hard times, and came through on the other side. He was a fighter. He was a proud Marine.

And I had only begun to patch the somewhat damaged camaraderie we had enjoyed before running afoul of some differences of opinion over moderator matters. Its something I have always regretted. Even with that, he was never an ass about it. He even reached out to let me know he might disagree, but bore no real ill will. Like I said, he was an honorable man. Cantankerous, stubborn, but stalwart, a solid friend as well.

Goddammit. I had been so wrapped up in all the goings on in my life, that in spite of noting I hadn't seen him for some time, even counting the sparse times I've been on, I had no idea what he and his family were going through. And I am so sorry. Better part of 10 years on this site. There hasn't been another like him, nor will there be. He was Dya - always with a quip, a witty reply, there to take the piss out of us so we didn't start taking ourselves too seriously.

We'll miss you, big guy. You were taken too soon. And I wish there were something I could have said, or done, or could do now. It just ain't right.

Well, I haven't posted in yonks, but occasionally I hope back and take a look at what's going on. This is dreadful news.

I don't think we'd spoken for years, but he was always one of the posters I would make time to read, instead of skimming past when catching up.

Thoughts and condolences to those he's left behind.
