"Chinese" Food in the West is usually modified to appeal to the tastes of Westerners. For example, walk into a Chinese take away and you'll find things that they wouldn't dream of eating in China.

Try the biryanis (rices with spices and fruits/nuts), if you get the chance. They're delicious too, and go well with chicken, lamb and vindaloos too.

Definitely will look into those. Thanks for the suggestions. I love it when you're talking about food, gives me lots of new things to try. :)

Some dishes were invented by Chinese-Americans after they immigrated to the US, so it is accurate. There are also some foods you can find in China that are very rare to see at Chinese restaurants in the US. So yeah... Eating out in China is different from going to a Chinese restaurant in the US.

Anxiety disorders are on the rise. I think that other than genetics, we live in a fast world and our stressors have increased so much. Much more than they were 10-20 years ago. Sometimes, it seems to me that much like cancer, depression and other anxiety related problems are just as deadly or close to being just as deadly.

I truly feel for people who go through anxiety and depression. I really do.

Today, and I apologize for the mini-sappy episode that will follow (I promise I shall go bathe in the blood of the Darkspawn later), but today I realized that however lonely we feel, the truth is we're not completely alone. If we do not have the support from family, many of us do have the support of good friends. Even if these friends are far away, they're there and you can, in some ways, count on their presence. We're never truly alone.

Wouldn't dream of? Sounds rather extreme. Is it a taste or values clash?

Well, I'll admit with the large variety it's possible, I guess.

I also experienced that this weekend. So, for what it's worth, I can say that you're never alone. Even when you think you are alone, someone is watching, somewhere, however many people don't know what to do and they just wait for you to reach out to them. So, if you think someone is your friend, reach out to them. If they are your friends, they will listen.
