Those are really good. I always just peel like 10 of them one after another and then eat the entire thing in a couple of bites one after another. It's oddly satisfying.

Well, the big things are:

1 - Are you stereotyping?
2 - Are you using clothes without knowing a single thing about the culture which it came from?

Also depends on the quality of the clothes... I think a lot of the issue with store-bought Halloween costumes is they aren't well-made, and people don't look good in them. If you dress up like an Indian and you make it look good, that's considerably less offensive than if you do it in a way that looks like shit -- regardless of how much you actually know about the culture. When someone sees you walking down the street and makes a judgement about the way you're dressed, they're going to have an emotional reaction before they ever talk to you to find out how much you know.

Even if you're mixing and matching stuff from different cultures and taking it out of its original context, it helps a lot if you use quality materials and put some effort into making it look good. If you're wearing nice stuff, it says, "I'm borrowing from this culture because it's cool; doesn't this stuff look swag?" instead of, "Durr-hurr, don't these people have funny clothes? See how ridiculous it looks when I dress up like them!"
