I hate to sound like a gossip but... If Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik were having a romantic relationship, but Syed Farook was married to and had a 1 year old child with his wife he met online...

Was Syed Farook cheating with Tashfeen Malik?

I wonder if someone at his work somehow spilled the beans to his wife? Weird and totally unsubstantiated guess but no less valid than any of the others being thrown around until we get the real reason.

One could make the argument that it's kinda (?) realistic, namely that if this is an affair and if it was revealed, then it would give the duo some time to plan the whole thing out as revenge, compared to going postal or Daesh.

I mean, it's not far-fetched for people to go pretty far to exact revenge.

Stella Nickell comes to mind.

Wow.

This definitely isn't good.

Are you really surprised though?

Kinda yes, kinda no.

I mean, I know we have a lot of gun violence here, but I wasn't expecting that much.

Now for the next shooting, I bet there'll be another one just before Christmas, maybe a hospital this time, they haven't tried a mass shooting in a hospital yet so that'll be a new one that I can at the very least feel a tiny bit of sympathy for.

The point of that statement was to show how disensitised the World has become to the fact that innocent civilians, including children are being killed in the States due to gun violence, yet the population brings it upon themselves due to their support for gun lobbying groups such as the NRA. :eyebrow:

Or Tashfeen Malik could actually be his wife. There is not enough information to reach any real conclusions yet. I'm glad they left the baby with their mom, rather than totally abandoning their child.

Can you imagine the horrible childhood that kid will have from this?

Hits pretty close to home living in Los Angeles, not to mention that there has been several killings in the Los Angeles area, notably East Los Angeles (my neighborhood) where the bodies of 2 young girls were found not that long ago. It's such common news for us here, that it just very well be just another day. Thoughts and prayers go out to all those that were lost and to the families that lost them.

- Farook leaves Christmas party, mad about something
- Farook and other suspect come back, start shooting
- Farook and other suspect leave
- Shootout between black SUV and police
- Third suspect captured

Apparently there are now doubts about a third suspect.

Some think it may have just been these two. I found the following list from the guardian to be helpful:

14 people have been killed and 17 injured in a mass shooting at the Inland Regional Center, a community center for people with disabilities.
The two attackers were named as Syed Rizwan Farook, a 28-year-old man, and Tashfeen Malik, a 27-year-old woman. Police said they were in a relationship and possibly married.
Both suspects were killed after engaging in a shootout with police while fleeing in a dark-coloured SUV.
The two suspects were armed with assault rifles and handguns, and were dressed in dark clothing “loaded with magazines for a gunfight”.
A third person who was detained close to the shoot-out has not been identified and it is not certain he was involved in the attack on the center.
Police chief Jarrod Burguan said “there had to be some degree of planning in this” and multiple explosive devices have been found at the Inland Regional Center.
Farook, an employee of the environmental health team, was involved in a dispute at a Christmas party being held at the center on Wednesday morning, and left before returning to open fire, police said.
Farhan Khan, Farook’s brother-in-law, said he had “absolutely no idea” why his relative would have carried out the massacre.

The fact of the matter is that to rest of the World, nobody cares when some lunatic kills a bunch of newborns/pregnant women somewhere in the States (okay maybe that's a tid bit of an exaggeration) because it's normal in the States, I mean the last statistics I read put the amount of annual gun deaths in the States at over 10,000, that's like four 9/11 attacks every year, but of-course the whole tragedy of it all is that those people are nothing more than simple statistics, so please do forgive my "cynical" and "jaded" approach.

Shit. I really hope it's not what I think it is. Forgive my attitude, I'm just a staunch pessimist.
Humans are monsters, we will never change, we will always want to claw out the throats of those with a difference in opinion, we will never be in an age of peace because of our lust for war, poverty will continue to exist as long as monetary needs exist. We rape, enslave, and conquer with no regards to others. We live by the sword, and we will, justifiably, die by the sword.

Hope is for unrealistic idealists. Pessimism is your friend.

Seems weird that the had a dispute that morning, but had already apparently crafted several explosive devices. I mean, making explosive devices isn't that hard, but it DOES take time.

More like the dispute may have been an excuse or something.

More information has come out about the weapons used:

It's sounding like more people may have been involved in the planning...

"Two guns recovered from suspects were purchased legally, federal officials say
Meredith Davis, a spokeswoman for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said officials had "successfully traced" the four guns recovered in connection with the San Bernardino shooting and had determined that two of the weapons were purchased legally.

The guns were bought by an individual associated with the investigation, Davis said, but declined to name the person.

"Agents continue to investigate leads concerning the two additional firearms," said Davis.

Police officials said the Farook and Malik were armed with two assault rifles and two semiautomatic handguns.

The assault rifles were a .223-caliber DPMS Model A15 and a Smith and Wesson M&P15.; The handguns were manufactured by Llama and Smith and Wesson, respectively."
