Doesn't matter what it was holding the clock in, it looks sketchy as hell. Nobody shows their science teacher a clock put into a sketchy ass pencil box that resembles a briefcase. While the police did use excessive force, he made a huge ass deal out of it and then he is now suing for 15 million. The response so far has been disproportionate to the situation, and to deny that there is some level of self-publicity and monetary interests involved is simply denying the evidence we have.
Oh gee, I guess you're another one of those posters who has no fucking clue about what a homemade bomb in a suitcase looks like. And how anyone with two fingers in front of their fucking noses can see the fucking difference between Ahmed's clock and an actual briefcase bomb.
The huge ass deal was made by the school, not the kid. As it has been said countless time, the teacher he brought the clock to show to had seen it and knew what it was and made no fuss about it, he didn't show it to anyone else until requested and that's when the shit hit the fan.
When you have an exposed motherboard/mainboard of sorts, with crudely organized wires and what resembles a time display, it may not look exactly like a briefcase bomb, but it definitely has enough similarities that most people will take it for a bomb. Sure, his race may have made it worse, but if a white kid showed such a creation, I doubt he won't scare people.
And he and his family escalated it by launching a huge media campaign that created a shitstorm on the internet. They got showered with a very well coordinated media campaign, and now they are suing for $15 million. Sorry, but the damages incurred do not surmount to $15 million in any measure.
