Good. I hope it teaches those assholes not to harass and arrest children for building clocks just because their skin is not sufficiently pale.

I doubt the negotiations would bring it down to an amount I would think as acceptable. I mean, what can the money do? What's the point of demanding outrageous amounts more than it takes to fix the problem? It's just greed, plain and simple.

I read the story and saw the "clock" which by the way wasn't that impressive plus if he didn't tell anyone it was a clock then it would be mistaken as a bomb and reading further it was his English teacher who thought it was a bomb one thing I'm thinking is why the hell would you take an electronic device you hashed in a suitcase to your freaking ENGLISH teacher his dumber then he lets on and the world is being taken for a ride on the stupid train. I say we lost all hope for the future if this kid wins. You know they could also go back to Sudan and leave us sane people here in the US alone.

Which is exactly why he was arrested.

When the police found out that he brought it in to show to his teacher and never actually tried to pass it off as a bomb, he was released.

The English teacher insisted on seeing the clock and freaked out, claiming it was a bomb (but then refusing to treat it like a bomb). He brought it to show a different teacher, who saw it as what it was (a clock).

Greed is a legitimate human motive in this situation. They're not stealing the money. They're suing for it under law.

If the school wants to save money in the future, they'll not act like idiots again.

You know.. while the run for president was reported in just about all media, none of them mentioned what exactly the political platform of daddy was.
Would it not be incredibly ironic if he wants Sudan to submit to the rule of the Caliph ;) ?

I am glad that this kid is moving back to Lebanon. Let him go to a very expensive private school there. In fact, let us here in America, hasten the family's departure by throwing them onto the plane.
Did you know that many members of his family are Islamic Radicals. His uncle runs "Twin Towers Transportation" (ha ha) and his dad was a politician (presidential candidate) in Sudan and also a 9/11 truther who wanted to spread Islam.

I hope he gets assigned a sane judge who throws the case out of court.

Ignore the fact that this was probably a scam, ignore the fact that the kid might have had ulterior motives, let's ignore the father's back story.

No, ignore all of that and look at the poor boy. Why, it's obvious this is all the fault of racism!

The father had run for President. He was not running at the time of this incident, and had indeed left the region to avoid political persecution. There is no indication in any interviews with any of his previous teachers that he was at all spoiled, though he was extremely energetic, gregarious, and occasionally obnoxious, as are many children in his age range.

> bring poorly-built clock to school in an ambiguous looking suitcase for attention

There was little ambiguous about it, as has been repeatedly shown in this thread. The only person he showed it to on his own initiative was a single teacher who was the one person in the school most likely to be familiar with what a clock looked like. He did not show it to anyone else until an alarm went off and he had to turn it off by reaching into his backpack. He didn't even take it out to turn off the alarm. His English teacher insisted that he do so.

>teacher freaks out because there's a fucking suitcase with wiring

Pencil case.

>get arrested

First completely accurate thing you've said.

>turns out it was a clock

Two in a row.

>people assume it was racism that got me arrested when I brought a box with wiring to school

Because it was likely racism, considering that there is no evidence that he attempted to present it as a hoax bomb.

>become a massive victim, get loads of media attention

Victim to be sure, though I'm not sure what "massive" victim means. Loads of media attention, sure, because the school overreacted to a pencil case with wiring and an LED display.

>get to see Obama

Yep.

>parents push me to sue the school a fortune after that, because they haven't made up for their...erm... racism enough

A bit of free education: The parents wouldn't have to press him to sue the school, as it would be their decision as his legal guardians and representatives to do so.

Cool lawsuit, Ahmed. Want to bring it to the White House? We should inspire more kids like you to like the Federal Courts. It's what makes America great.

And there in lies the problem. The very idea of lawsuit is based around greed under the guise of overinflated punishment.

I HATE the notion of overinflated lawsuit compensations being used as scare tactics to force people and organizations to accommodate everyone out of fear. WHO wins in this and who loses? The kid and their lawyer make millions, and the school and every person and community tied to that school has to suffer for it. We're talking taxpayer dollars going into the pockets of a few individuals, all because of the system of lawsuits.

And on the topic of "Don't screw up if you don't want to be sued," it's not much different than blaming a victim of robbery for not being secure enough.

How, exactly, does keeping a clock in your backpack all day until an alarm in it goes off, reaching into the backpack to turn off the alarm without taking it out, and only doing so when specifically instructed to by a teacher equal "screamed attention" to you?
