Well I'm sorry to inform you that there was a fire. The news report you posted reports a fire, and fire would be a direct link to the canisters/boilers exploding due to pressure.

Intense heat creates smoke. That smoke comes from flammable material, in this case its the gas and the tonnes of building material in the construction site. A fire started, and cooked a canister till the internal pressure caused it to explode. That throws around much more intense heat as the gas is exposed to a direct flame now that its steel shell is gone.

Terrorists have no reason whatsoever to waste their manpower and resources on attacking a construction site.

Police in Barnet have moved to reassure the public the blast was not terrorist-related (apparently). The noise was caused by a propane cylinder blowing up in the heat. Officers have warned a second canister could also explode.

Miklos Kiss, who works at the nearby RAF Museum, said: “If I wasn’t in an office with sturdy windows, I’m sure they would have shaken. “It was really loud – the kind of loud that you knew something bad had happened straight away, no mistaking it. “Me and my co-workers all rushed over to the windows. There was a swiftly rising pall of dark grey smoke that dissipated quickly, then we could hear sirens. “There was an announcement made by our security that it was a gas cylinder on a roof of a building in Lanacre Road nearby. “There is major construction going on all over Colindale as the area is being regenerated. “I think everyone was rattled and a bit jumpy. What do you think? Attack cover-up or simple accident? I was nearby and also witnessed two loud thumps, and later observed police cars and ambulances along with some fire trucks at the site. I believe this was not a coincidence and the work of terrorism supporters.

Wouldn't surprise me. I think 5 ISIS guys tried to cross the border into the US the other day.

Five Syrians with Greek passports was what I read, I believe.

As far as I am aware, their was no confirmation they were IS. They could be, I suppose, until proven otherwise, but they could also be simple illegal immigrants. And asserting they were IS without evidence stigmatizes Syrians with presumption of guilt and is alarmist fear mongering.
