The answer to that is no. Even several members of the transgender community I know agree. And I am sure some will say that I am being unfair, and so be it, but no. As much of an advocate of trans rights as I am, no, I do not see any reason to give Jenner this recognition because she has done nothing to truly deserve this.

It's based on her actions, not her gender or sex. And her actions do not demonstrate anything of worth, to me, to have earned her this award. As simple as that.

I wish I got an award just for existing

Participation Awards for Everyone. Everybody gets to be a special little snowflake.

Seriously, all she did was become a woman. It's really not that big of a deal. The only difference between Jenner and any other situation with a transgender individual is that she's famous. Anyone else and nobody would give two shits.

Like I said before, if we are going to give this award to a woman that has helped the trans community, then let us give that award to someone like Gustava, from Translifeline. And like Gustava, there are many others who do make a difference.

Jenner harms transgender people, I think.

Actually, she's a poor representive regardless of fame, just by being a cunt. She said the hardest part was fucking shopping.

I see all these posts like, "you are more likely to get killed if you're transgender." Yeah, but would you rather die in an urban area where civilians can help you to a hospital a few miles away or in war torn Syria where you are pinned by gunfire and can't get to safety and risk a slow painful death by bleeding out.

Who cares about whether a person is a rolemodel or not? It isn't like people who aren't rolemodels are lesser persons whatsoever.

I think the point is that being a famous, out of touch, conceited moron who is also transgender reflects badly on the community.

Not to mention the fact that the Kardashians are milking the hell out of this. I wouldn't be shocked if this whole thing was just to get people to think they were still relevant.

Yes, because before Caitlyn, the Woman of the Year award was something people seriously cared about.../s

Honestly, I don't care that much about Caitlyn, but it seems that some of the people shitting on her just want to engage in some good ol' fashioned socially acceptable transphobia.

If she weren't transgender, she'd be transphobic.

Bruce Jenner is a disgrace. He's a murderer and a fake trans woman whose just in it for the fame. He's not even that attractive as a woman either.

But then again, who gives two shits what Glamour Magazine thinks?

In theory, that may be true. However, she also has issues with calling herself lesbian despite attraction to women and identifying herself as one.

It'll take sometime I think, but eventually she'll be more comfortable.

I dislike the fact that Caitlyn has received so much attention and, quite frankly, fawning by the media and the public. She's not that special and it's not that great.

This dead woman was apparently saving people during 9/11 - a truly heroic act. However, it is incorrect to hand back the award because Jenner received it. In fact, it's ridiculous to do so. Just because you disagree with the recipient of the same award you received doesn't mean you give the award back.

By smearing the name of the award in the mud it is no longer an award but a disgrace.

Sure, but not Woman of the Year. More like, Surviving the Trashdasians Award. :p

I presented my contention already.

Everyday people become transgender so why does she get so much attention. Oh wait, because America will dick ride anything the media throws out there

What's the point of this statement besides minimizing the struggles or discrimination that transgender people face?

To engage in socially acceptable transphobia. I'm not the biggest fan of Caitlyn myself, but I suspect that a good chunk of the people complaining about her aren't doing it because she isn't a good advocate for trans people.

I also think that many people saying that she doesn't deserve the award probably haven't even heard of the award until now.

I've heard and follow it every year. I am not sure how not agreeing with Jenner receiving it and stating why amounts to casual transphobia. At least not in my part. *shrug*

Oh no, this award from a fashion magazine has been tarnished forever by being given to someone rich and famous who lives in a "rich and famous people" bubble. I'm sure Britney Spears will be next to return her award.
