What? No, the library closes at midnight.

Why a college would encourage that is beyond me. That's not beneficial in the slightest unless you're nocturnal as in you sleep during the day, all day and live life after sundown

The libraries at the state colleges I've gone to did let us stay all night. However, after midnight they wouldn't let us back inside. They'd let people study inside, but not go out. If you did go out of the library you had to leave home.

Why would a college force their students who left after midnight to leave their homes?

Never, that's not beneficial in the slightest and actually lowers your performance when test time comes by. I've stayed up until ten or even eleven and sometimes up until 1 am studying but I was well rested enough to have benefited from the session and it wasn't the day before![]()
I always study well before test day and only review the days right before

That's ideal, but some people have extracurricular activities, which, I think, hinder them from staying up-to-date on their studies and have them needing additional time at night to study.
You make time not wait for it to magically appear or for you to somehow have extra time somewhere in your schedule just out of the blue. I would think studying would be high in their priorities list, enough to at least not have to force an all-nighter upon themselves.
