In normal cars, yeah. But in mind-boggingly fast cars, one needs some experience with some less powerful ones.

Not necessarily, it's about the driver's knowledge, passion, and skill; age is somewhat irrelevant.

Those middle aged people would be absolutely goddamn terrible in "mind bogglingly fast cars". The most powerful car I've driven had 305 hp and I handled it just fine, while I'm sure my college professors and mother and plenty of people with more "regular car" experience would have had more trouble with it than I.

Just because you're afraid of learning how to drive and don't think you can handle power at a young age doesn't mean you need to project it onto others.

In other news I am working on another car for my company, a premium compact car line called the Silverhare Scepter, in 2 trims (S and Sierra), each with three body styles (coupe, sedan, and wagon). They come with 3 speed automatic transmissions standard, 4 speed manuals optional. Available engines include a 241 cid I6, a 304 cid V8, a regular gas 357 cid V8, a premium gas 357 V8, and a high output 357 V8.

This is what I have completed thus far, the side view of the Scepter S Sedan.

You're going for a classic look with modern commodities?

No, it's an old technology car. Looks like a 4th gen X-body. With a bit of 5th gen.

Not modern exactly. Patridam is a past tech nation, somewhere between 1950 and 1980, and the cars reflect that. The most sophisticated equipment on any of the cars will be mechanical fuel injection, airbags, antilock brakes, and traction control etc.

As in FWD Omega or Skylark? This car is quite a bit bigger than that, and is RWD. Closer to a 77+ A platform if you're going to name GM cars.

Thought 4th gen was the 75-79 Nova etc. Then it looks like a 3rd gen, with bits of 4th gen. The proportions seem a bit too compressed for an A-body, at least for me.

Some of the illusions about proportions might come from the 15" rims (instead of the 14" ones on the 3rd gen X body). Also, in terms of proportions, its worth noting that a 78' (midsize) Malibu and a 78' (compact) Nova are about the same length (200 inches) and the Nova is wider the the Malibu. Downsizing was a mess.

To me, the proportions of the A-body and X-body seem similar, but when you called it "premium compact", it led me towards the X.

Imagine it's 2010. You are a 21-year-old university student from the UK. You are searching for a small, cheap-to-own car to replace your 2002 Seat Ibiza. You want a manual petrol 3-doorer, but can stand a 5-door version. The options you can afford are:
- 2008 Seat Ibiza 1.2 12v,
- 2006 Toyota Yaris 1.3,
- 2007 Nissan Micra 1.2,
- 2006 Honda Jazz 1.3,
- 2007 Mazda 2 1.3,
- 2007 Mitsubishi Colt 1.3,
- 2007 Suzuki Swift 1.3,
- 2007 VW Polo 1.2 12v,
- 2008 Ford Fiesta 1.25,
- 2008 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2,
- 2008 Skoda Fabia 1.2 12v,
- 2008 Renault Clio 1.2,
- 2008 Fiat Grande Punto 1.2.

Which one would you buy?
I think I'd get the Honda. While not too appealing visually for that buyer, it's a reliable, well-handling, relatively satisfying car.

One doesn't emerge from the womb capable of handling over 500hp.

As someone who was stuck with a sickly three speed automatic rabbit cabriolet as his first car, I don't know about that. I feel much safer driving automobiles that have "too much power" than I did in a car that struggled to maintain 30 mph in second gear up a hill and couldn't reach the speed limit on the highway. Good performing cars might be wasteful in terms of expense on a young person, but big luxury cars and SUVs that happen to be powerful aren't going to kill them - they are very docile until you really commit to putting your foot into it.

Putting your foot into it is something inexperienced drivers do a LOT of. Jerky accelerator usage becomes a threat to personal safety when the jerky accelerator is connected to a 500hp V8TT.

One of my friends has a 145hp Hyundai Elantra with TCS and ESP and riding with him can be pretty scary even then just because he hasn't learned how to smoothly accelerate and brake.

Yeah. Depends on the driver. Most young ones are not capable of handling a 550HP (actual RR rating) car at full throttle, and it will be at full throttle at some point.

I would pick Yaris, because I feel most comfortable managing the wheels of Toyota cars. They are light and have good traction enough for me to drive a great distance.

Although it was not a ricer. Only tastefully modded.

Seems that in my town, Audis are replacing Civics as the tasteful/light modder's car.

Around here, Audis might get aftermarket wheels and maybe blacked logos and windows, but that's it really.

Civics are still the darling of ricers, pretty much any cheap coupé is popular among modders, whether the coupé is FWD or RWD.

I don't see riced Civics. Modded Civics around me seem to be done around a plan.

The rice car is mostly the VW Golf Mk3, maybe some E36s and Mondeos.
Capitalism, single-payer healthcare, pro-choice, LGBT rights, progressive personal taxation, low corporate tax, pro-business law, welfare for those in need.
Nazism, edgism, dogmatic statements, most of Abrahamic-derived morality (esp. as law), welfare for those not in need.
We are not Albania and I am not Albanian, FFS!

Not sure if left-libertarian, ex-libertarian or without a damn clue.

I don't see people rice Mondeos, but it's always the convertible E36s that get riced round here.
