Back in the 60s it was generally defined as an affordable performance car, one based on the basic platform of an ordinary family car, but given a much more powerful engine and having aggressive styling.

For example, the Ford Mustang was based on the humdrum Ford Falcon compact sedan but had a much more exciting body, with a long hood, short trunk, and low roofline; and it could be had with a powerful V8 engine and sporty interior stuff like bucket seats and a console. Or take the Oldsmobile 442; it was basically just a regular midsize car, the Oldsmobile Cutlass, but with some sporty touches inside and out and a big 455 cubic inch V8 taken from full size cars stuffed in the engine bay.

Nowadays it's become a performance/sports car that still has a back seat, has a powerful engine, and has aggressive styling, but is a bit bigger than a 2+2.

I see. Thanks :)

In my case it would be a Volga owned in the 70s by my aunt. It was as prestigious back then as a Merc S-Class would be now.

Hmm..... what is the most expensive vehicle any member of my family has owned......... that is a rather good question................ I don't know actually............................................ hmm... yeah... I don't actually know... I think one of my aunts up in Canada has a Mercedes...... not sure though... haven't been up there since... about 2008 or 2009.

What are the cars like in your nation? What are the most commonly seen vehicles in your nation? Makes, body styles, when they were made, yada, yada.

For this nation, the most common automobiles are American brand pickup trucks ranging from the 50's up to the very early 2000's. Pickup trucks comprise about 66% of all the Pensyltuckian automotives. Out of all the makes, Chevrolet is most common, followed by Ford, then GMC. Overall, the cars in this nation are heavily American, with Asian and European made cars being a rarity.

Jeepneys (bcoz we had a lot of them after WW2 and so we converted them into mass transit), buses, sedans ranging from the 90s to early 2000s, motorcycles ranging from the 70s to now, motorized tricycles of all kinds depending on the city.

The cars we have here in Philippines are mostly Japanese imports, though there are American cars on the road as well.

Yes, a thread that's been inactive for two weeks and was barely active before that. This thread is "general" for a reason - overly specific threads get no traffic. All of the cars I've made in automation have been Patridian cars, so do I now have to post them in that thread instead of this one?

The thing is, the thing I told them to stop was more roleplaying, but your Automation creations are more general car stuff.

Whatever is cheapest and most safe.

So, probably the Fit. It's not as cheap as an Aveo or Yaris, however, it's reliable and safe. Plus, it's the best bang for your buck. You can get a sporty and nice base model for about $18k, and that's if it's brand new. Granted, 18k is quite a bit of cash, so it'd be best to get one used.

Yes, general is out of character. No nations. So cars in your nation states nation go there. Cars in your rl nation go here.

None of the above. I get her a used full sized car in decent running condition. A 5 year year old accord, or malibu.

Eh, I'd probably rather get her a car that's a few years old and in good running order. But itf I had to pick one of those... I guess the Fiesta.

America, Japan, and Europe. Suppose you had to put one of these 3 region's car companies out of business. Every single one. You have to pick one single region or else all of them go. Which region's car companies would you wipe out?

Well, 2 of them are countries, one of them is a continent.

But, to pick probably Japan, since of them has left the car market, and one of them could leave. But I'd rather take out Korea, since it's mostly Hyundai and Kia.

Europe. Because everything from anywhere in Europe other than Germany is unreliable and overpriced, VW/Audi is irresponsible and makes utterly dull cars, BMW's are for ponces, and if Mercedes were a person its head would explode from the size of its ego.

If you could bring a back marque from the dead, or at least the realm of inactivity, what it be?

I'd say Saab, because they were interesting, even if their obsession of safety did bankrupt them.

Eh, just put 'region' since I wasn't quite sure what would be a phrase that includes both countries and continents.

Pontiac, because GM should have killed Buick or GMC first.

Packard. Easy. As much as I would like to again see Pontiac, Mercury, or Oldsmobile, or, hell, even Desoto come back, Packard made fine cars in the old way and would be interesting to see what it would do nowadays.
