Controversial opinion:
I believe that it wasn't that unjustified, because crossovers are the new coupes - cars that use stock mechanicals of a normal one, but with the bodywork changed to look more fashionable.

Weirdly enough, magazines like Top Gear had been mocking the Infiniti for bad handling.

Either they were making it up, or the Jag will really impress you throughout its life.

To be honest, that's how I feel about it. The G series IMO were phenomenal. When I test drove the Q60 it was... underwhelming. I mean it's a beautiful automobile, but the handling was a little stiff and the suspension didn't seem as great. Maybe I'm just spoiled, picky or sentimental of my G35. Idk tbh.

But the Jag has been great so far. Plus I spent a little more and got the convertible, so can't wait to use that in a week or two when I know the warm weather is here to stay haha.

The G35 is generally a well-liked car, many think of it as a more reliable BMW 3-Series with the tunable Nissan 3.5 V6.

The Q60... not so much. New turbo engine, controversial styling and electrical steering that apparently can go on strike and throw errors at really low temperatures.

The Jag is also loved by most, but unfortunately, this includes tow truck drivers.

Auzkhia wrote:It was a bland replacement to the Crown Victoria, while dated, had a boatload of charming character. Similarly, the Mercury Montego can't top the Grand Marquis. Not to be confused with the Monterey, which was a minivan, last time Ford Motor Company used that name for a Mercury.

Those are a bit different, Taurus was already a sedan name. Pacifica, minivans and crossovers are basically the same sort of vehicle. Anything that's a bit bigger than a sedan and has a hatch can be considered a crossover, even wagons and minivans, but without sliding doors.

The 500 was not a replacement for the Crown Vic. It was specifically a replacement for the Taurus which was discontinued in 2006 for consumers, and 2007 for fleet buyers. Didn't stop em from bringing the name plate back almost immediately after refreshing the 500. I'm still a bit amazed that Ford managed to turn the slow and droll 500 into something that actually looks passable as a car. And then turned it into something like the Chrysler 300, but without the prestige/presence. (tbh both cars need a fresh design)

Remember the Crown Vic was kept around for more than a few years after the Taurus was killed, and then brought back again.

For that matter the Fusion stepped in to fill the new mid-size void left by the Taurus moving up. If Ford was indeed planning to replace the CV with the 500... I question their sanity with that move.
Eternally salty, quite tired, and perhaps looking for a brighter future.
