Basically knowing your ideals matter little if you can't keep food on the table with them and that changing the world is not the end-all be-all of humanity.

On changing the world: Just do what you can where you are with what you have for the right reason. If you wind up changing the world through that, all the better, but that ought not be your aim.
As far as the other bit... To a point. If you're losing sleep at night (or your meal at any point in the day) because of what you're doing to put food on the table, is it really worth it?
