Also, I could be wrong (since my only source on this is my old man, and I haven't been able to find a transcript of Palin's actual remarks) but it seems to me as if Obama wasn't being criticized for teleprompter use in general, but that he used one (complete with podium, seal, and all) while addressing a 6th grade class. I've been tentatively digging for it all day, but there are too many news results to wade through for any pertinent combination of words I can find. Does anyone have a transcript, or a link to a transcript of what was actually said?

I think, kind of tougher to put our arms around, but allowing America's spirit to rise again by not being afraid to kind of go back to some of our roots as a God fearing nation where we're not afraid to say especially in times of potential trouble in the future here, where we're not afraid to say, you know, we don't have all the answers as fallible men and women so it would be wise of us to start seeking some divine intervention again in this country, so that we can be safe and secure and prosperous again. To have people involved in government who aren't afraid to go that route, not so afraid of the political correctness that you know – they have to be afraid of what the media said about them if they were to proclaim their alliance to our creator.

If you can get through the grammar on that one, essentially she's saying that Divine Intervention is needed again to lift America's spirits, perhaps some divine rainbow show, that would make people happy.

So, one of the top 3 priorities is to ask God for some Divine Intervention, hoo boy!

Teleprompter at least looks professional. I don't mind index cards either. But writing on her hand? That's the kind of minimalist crap I'd expect from elementary school kids, not a politician who got elected to office.

I've interpreted it as an attempt to appear as though she needs no notes or teleprompters, which would serve to make her appear more folksy unlike that elitist, teleprompter-using Obama. Criticizing her for using her hand to write notes that most people would be able to remember is silly, but she does seem to try to mislead people into thinking she doesn't need them.

The idea that she did that on purpose deserves some consideration. She could easily have written in big letters on the last card of her speech notes "Energy / Budget Cuts / Little American Spunk" ... or whatever it is that she had written on her hand.

I'm honestly finding it hard to believe that she couldn't remember those three reasons for the question she must have known she would be asked. She must have known she would be asked "do you intend to run for President?" and "why do you want to be President?"
