Yeah, but the funny thing about satire is it's often based largely in truth. I've seen "Worship Pastors" stretch out a song like that. Kinda defeats the purpose if you ask me.

Why do you feel it defeats the purpose?
Not to start an argument, but I used to play guitar in evangelical churches several years ago, so I'm curious about what your opinion is on that.

Worship becomes less about the worship and more about the spectacle.

Catholics pulling stunts like that was one of the things that drove me into the sweet embrace of tradition.
Along with a hyper-reactionary view of just about everything.

I can see how that's true, comparing the local evangelical churches and the local Catholic churches down here, Catholic churches are not as "gospel" as evangelicals in terms of music.
They're lively for sure, the Catholic parishes down here, but they're a different kind of lively.

My local parish has managed to spruce up the liturgy without going overboard. Some nice folk guitar to accompany some songs and liturgical prayers. They took a bit more traditional route on the Easter Vigil, but non of it compares to the Traditional Liturgy done at the Church in my home town.

I do however see a reason for caution. Parish budgets can be huge, and priests have a fair amount of latitude in spending it, and as Fr. Mike explained there aren't very many audits.
Dice are dangerous. My first roll ever, I rolled for about 25 minutes straight. Made everybody at the table rich except me cause I hadn't figure out how to bet yet. Haven't caught anything close to that luck since, but It is mighty tempting to try. I mainly stick to Poker. It's less a gambling game, more one of patience and skill, so i feel less guilty about it too.

See, and that's the weird thing. Gospel churches I love, because it's all about being on fire for Christ. The whole congregation gets involved, and drives it. These rock show evangelical churches however, nah.
