Why I will take this poll with a pinch of salt. People in favour of something are far more likely to vote than those who are not or are apathetic.

Would you believe a poll that stated 72% percent of North Koreans support Kim Jong-un?

Of course not.

It's obvious 99% of North Koreans love the Great Leader. The rest are imperialist spies who shall soon be dealt with.

What Hirota said.

The poll does not say that Syrians support Assad. Respondents were just people visiting Le Figaro's website, i.e. French people. Also, the poll said "should the great powers demand the resignation of Bachar el-Assad?" Which is not the same as "do you support Assad?"

Now, if we could all stop blindly believing everything RT says, that would really help with the whole misinformation problem.

Actually, given the lack of a definite or indefinite article in the title it's accurate without generalisation. Since it can just as easily mean "[some] Syrians support Assad" as much as "[All] Syrians support Assad" or "[Most] Syrians support Assad".

70% is better than most U.S. elections. Americans certainly don't support Obama, or congress. Maybe Russia should bring them democracy.

Clearly the task of deciding Syria's fate should fall to 20,000 random Frenchmen who voted in an internet poll.

Assad should be removed and replaced with the Jordanian monarchy. You might be a Republican, but Abdullah II never gassed his own people. Besides, a powerful US ally in the Middle East that does not behead and crucify teenagers is a good idea all around.

I'm going to have to err on the side of gassing ISIS. Most of the opposition joined ISIS.

Maybe we should ask the Syrians what they think first. Preferably not through a French internet poll...

Can we trust them not to vote for Assad merely out of fear of being targeted though?

So lets check in the Capital Damascus. Generally, for many nations the public opinion in the Capital is generally representative of the public opinion in most of the nation.

This from UK. Channel 4 news. The news story is from the beginning of this month.

Probably not. But it beats simply having them annexed by a neighbouring country for the sole reason that said country happens to be a monarchy.
