Pfft. Children don't have rights! Even if that child is more philosophically literate than his homophobic creationist parents.

Who are you to say whether or not they should do that? Besides, that isn't even what's being discussed here.

Umm, no. Child abuse is not sanctioned by the Constitution. Try again.

It would probably not surprise me to find that deep within the document is stuff sanctioning stuff like spousal rape.

That teacher should not have forced her atheism on the class.

Nor should any other public/state school teacher preach their religious beliefs to students in an educational setting.

Atheism is not a religion as the OP says, but it is not necessarily merely a lack of belief in any gods either. The name's meaning can change depending on how it's used, just like with - shock horror - pretty much any other word. Given the teacher's assertion that God is 'a myth', the OP's intended meaning behind the word 'atheism' seems to be the rejection of the existence of God, i.e. the belief that God does not exist. Not a religion per se, but a belief nonetheless.

The OP displays poor understanding of the scientific method.

Some consider that the existence of God is a fact while others think the God doesn't exist at all. In particular example the teacher demonstrated was in fact that the existence of God is an opinion something that religious people consider it to be a false statement.

the teacher threatened the student if she took recourse because she knew what she was doing was wrong. the assignment was antagonistic and there are lots of opinions that could be chosen to illustrate this point but she inconsiderately chose that one. to let her continue teaching sends the message that this is ok and that the constitutional separation of religion and public schools is optional.

Evolution is not coercing religion nor the opposite of religion. Religion and the idea of evolution can coexist.
