The party responsible for all this is the MHP. Their saying "no" to everything brought the AKP from a minority and saved them from being tried to a comfortable majority again. They can all burn in this country. I'm leaving.

Hey, you're welcome to stay in the True North Strong and Free. :)

Lol, funny thing is, my cousin's wife (who lives in Turkey) said if AKP wins, she'll move to another country, probably Germany, lol.

Not needed. The AKP has the help and blessings of Allah. That is enough.

It's such a stupid palace anyway. I mean, the Council of State ordered it to be vacated since it violated the law, but no such thing happened. It's nothing but a big, fancy gecekondu (slum).

Hey, at least he hasn't moved in Topkapi yet, if that happens then you should be really worried.

I'm glad Hagia Sophia is still a museum, though I don't know if that'll last. :lol2:

Now that I've vented, I can get constructive.

They're actually taken over by the state if they are opposing the government, as İpek Koza Group saw recently.

Me neither. Maybe they wouldn't if a more charismatic leader comes to CHP and/or MHP. I mean, Kilicdaroglu seems like a nice guy, but I can't see him as a leader tbh.

Kılıçdaroğlu is a leader, but he was born in the wrong country. He, or Ecevit, was and is too much for the minds of the Turkish people. If both of those people in their time were in Sweden, Germany, France or any proper democracy, they would have won an election. No, the Turkish people want a leader who divides, swears and shouts. They don't want a nice person.

Now, Balt, the official line is that Erdoğan is the President and he's above politics and that we aren't voting him in...

But seriously, as a speaker on Fox Turkey said, there is no "AKP". There is only "Erdoğan". Why we vote the AKP/Erdoğan in? Well, it's complicated, but this election was very fraudulent. It is impossible for a party to rise from around 41% to 50% in just five months while there is terror and around 600 people have died. It's impossible.

Oh boy, not again... I hope this doesn't happen anytime soon.
I already see the idiotic jingoistic headlines on Greek papers; "LET'S STUFF THAT TURKEY WITH GREASE", and the Turkish ones following "FEEL MY TURKISH DELIGHT".

So there are no Turkish media sources that vocally criticize AKP?

Halk TV does, but it's a very minor channel which barely anybody watches. Ulusal Kanal (tra. National Channel) may also qualify, but they're also a very minor channel.

So no, the major news outlets are, for most part, silent in regards to criticism. The journalists don't ask the President or the Prime Minister any real questions, for one. If their newspapers make the President unhappy...well, İpek Koza Group got taken over and a trustee was appointed, who proceeded to literally fire on the spot any dissenting voices.

"The newspaper is our honour."
"You're fired, get out."

Literally.

What about Hürriyet?

"In Istanbul, the offices of Hürriyet — the paper often seen as the flagship of Turkish media — were raided and twice vandalized after the paper was accused of being sympathetic to the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). Soon afterward, Ahmet Hakan, a senior editor at Hürriyet, was attacked by armed thugs outside his home."

The press freedom situation in Turkey is atrocious.
