And exactly what purpose does the government being so unflinchingly orderly serve here? Who benefits from having someone who medical professionals consider a woman in an all-male prison?

HM Prison Service clearly did not have the time or authority to redo all of the woman's papers to make her actually be a woman in the eyes of the law (passport, etc).

I occasionally get the same feeling with regards to homosexuality, but it doesn't affect my stance on the issue because I recognize the irrationality of that feeling and shove it off to the side.
