This verbal cues thing kind of gets to me. I feel like we're getting close to the point where you need to scream into someone's face "DO YOU CONSENT TO SEX?", and get some kind of written contract printed before you can have consensual sex.

But like Des Bal said, the verbal consent only really applies within the case of a prosecution of a sexual assault.

I triggered a dog today by accidentally asking it if it was a good boy. Turns out it was a good aromantic demisexual neutrois. I didn't even know.

Eh. I mean it'll certainly help when alcohol is involved. And for people who aren't very good at social cues. Particularly if the social cues are rather subtle.
Seems like it could be put to quite good use.

A well meaning law that could very easily turn into the current Title IX witch hunts happening in Colleges across America.

The "Dear Colleagues" letter meant well, I really believe that. The implementation has basically tossed any semblance of "balance" out the window.

Which feeds into the need for law enforcement involvement.

Which feeds into the need for better training of law enforcement.

Which feeds into the need for better oversight of funding of law enforcement.

Sticky wickets all the way down.

I have said I hate that form of feminism...frequently. I think Anita Sarkeesian has reprehensible ideas. If video games are not the cause of violence, why would they be a source of sexism? I like watching pretty/hot men and women in video games as much as the next person.

I'm always kinda hesitant to just write laws willy nilly but I don't think encouragement of verbal confirmation is a bad idea

I like butts, and she tends to blame men for their sexuality way too much (a problem with feminists like her).

Encouragement is difficult to accomplish without enforcement. Enforcement means goals. Goals mean oversight. Oversight means legal standing.

It's a hell of an issue, and I hate that having a serious discussion about it is as hard as it is.

But when it's women it's sexism. You know that.

Incidentally, attitudes like this have gone a long way to suppressing the number of female characters in video games. Because any game where the woman is the villain often has to weather criticism from feminists like Sarkeesian and such, while also getting criticized by conservative groups for... pretty much the same thing. Meanwhile, the damsel trope is coming back because at least that doesn't get them criticism from the conservative group, and you gotta put some women in there SOMEWHERE besides the gender choosable hero.

So... yeah.
Venicilian: wow. Jesus hung around with everyone. boys, girls, rich, poor(mostly), sick, healthy, etc. in fact, i bet he even went up to gay people and tried to heal them so they would be straight.
The Parkus Empire: Being serious on NSG is like wearing a suit to a nude beach.
New Kereptica: Since power is changed energy over time, an increase in power would mean, in this case, an increase in energy. As energy is equivalent to mass and the density of the government is static, the volume of the government must increase.

I'm still confused about that. The pose didn't seem that sexual, the pose they replaced it with quieted everyone but it looked just as sexualized, it wasn't a complaint about actual portrayal of the character, and all it really did was make Tracer's butt legendary.

God help them if these people ever find out what others have been up to with SFM.

I'm not saying it caused it. It's a preexisting thing.

Rather, the world has been trending towards more gender equality (not fast enough, given), but having to walk on eggshells with every female character while you can do any damn thing you want with a male character, and you're trying to tell an edgy story, what do you do?

Part of that was because of the preponderance of single player games.

The number of true "SINGLE" player games has declined dramatically recently, due to multiplayer franchises exploding in popularity as internet connections improved.

Hardware is just as much to blame as software for characters changing from "developed" to "avatar".

Oh I know that Anita and her ilk are harming getting more women in video games. While personally wish there where more clothes that where actually able to protect female characters, I want them as options. I want more female villains because guess what, women can be evil.

Never known game developers to care about that shit before. Dragon Age Origins had a bi chick who turned who turned her followers into breeding spawn for unholy monsters. DA2 had shittons of horrifying female villains, including the 'main' villain of the game. I don't remember the last RPG within the past ten years I played where female characters were treated very carefully and cautiously by the narrative.
