I don't think this is the case here

The reasons for your proposed ban are totally bogus, they're completely subjective and based on your own personal views and not anything reasonable.

There are always risks of injury in sports, especially physical sports. I myself play both lacrosse and rugby and I know the consequences of taking a knee to the face in rugby, or a bad hit that ends up in a really bad concussion. The thing is IM: boxing has its own risks. If you want it banned because of its dangers, then you're also saying any sport that has a potential of concussions or risk of dangerous injury, especially physical sports, should be banned.

That means we're limited to sports like Tennis or Badminton and I hate those sports.

Maybe

then again, I'm not sure why this shows why the reasons behind banning boxing, as they apply in the narrow context of boxing, are good enough or bad enough to warrant a ban

to the extent that they can be applied in other situations, maybe they would warrant similar conclusion, maybe not. Remember, principles don't operate in a vacuum

I disagree

they are too high for a form of recreation and for the limited role the activity plays in the economy at large; this is also stacked on top of the objectionable nature of the sport itself (which involves swinging punches at each other)

Good luck with that. Its pretty much a tradition, and people don't need to be protected like newborn babies. People enjoy freedoms, its not wise to take them away from them.

Ok, so because I don't have all night (even though I do) I asked if you were an American because, if you are, I would like to hear where in the US Constitution you find the legal basis for support of your demand for the banning of boxing.

Well, boxing is a physical sport that sees contact to the head multiple times. Hockey is a physical sport that sees contact to the head multiple times. Rugby is a physical sport that sees contact to the head multiple times. Lacrosse is a physical sport that sees contact to the head multiple times. American Football is a physical sport that sees contact to the head multiple times. Wrestling is a physical sport that sees contact to the head multiple times. MMA/UFC is a physical sport that sees contact to the head multiple times.

This would take away the freedom of sport and choice. So they get injured? Their choice, but it shouldn't be banned. Otherwise, big-shot politicians like Manny Pacquiao (a top boxer and senator) could start calling the UN, because this issue prohibits them from fighting the way the want to.

If people want to risk their health let em. Drinking and doing drugs is not healthy nor is eating a lot. However it is their choice people have a right to be stupid. As long as their stupidity does harm any one else what is the problem? The negative effects of boxing should be made aware however if after looking at the side effects some one chooses to box who are we to stop them? I don't think we need Helen Love Joy making decisions for other people it strikes me as rather fascist really.

Is there a general consensus or public outcry that is calling for boxing to be banned? Or for any other sport to be banned?

Statistics indeed are not subjective. However, when the statistic Is something like "About 200 in about 35 years", they are about as valid as the toothbrush commercials "1 in 3 dentists". Can you please supply factual specific information that isn't stated In a way to appear larger (about 200 in 35 years as opposed to averaging around 5.5 deaths per year, with less occuring currently due to the safety regulations), then provide links from peer reviewed studies, or at least .edus or .govs?

Because if there were, you would have more ground to stand on with your argument other than "it's dangerous and I don't like it" which isn't a valid argument, no statistic will help you.

That would be like me saying: "well, American football results in tens of thousands of concussions, broken bones, sprains, cuts, and bruises every year and I don't like it so I totally think it should be banned, even though nobody else seems to think so."

If something isn't prohibited by the constitution, then it is constitutional?

To ban boxing, by this logic, would be a violation of the constitution since, by your own words, anything not clearly prohibited by the constitution is apparently constitutional.

So either you do believe this or you believe boxing should be banned.

Which is it?
