Women box. Women wrestle. Women play hockey, women play soccer, women race, women compete in MMA. Rather than banning something because it's ohnoes teh violents, we ought to be pushing for equal treatment and media coverage of women in sports.

Something about why wrestling is bad for women
http://www.csus.edu/wac/journal/2013/Ca ... _Draft.pdfThis study examined how ringside commentary in professional wrestling matches continues to perpetuate stereotypical gender roles. This study used a content analysis method to examine ten pre-recorded matches—five female and five male matches—within a span of sixteen years. The study analyzed the commentary from announcers at ringside—commentary about sexuality and athletic ability was the focus of the study. The study concentrated on four hypotheses and each assumed that in all instances a woman’s sexuality would be more likely to be mentioned than a man’s sexuality. Conversely, a woman’s athletic ability would be mentioned less than a man’s athletic ability. The analysis revealed results that supported all the hypotheses and found similar results as previous research. The study found that hegemonic ideas about femininity and masculinity continued to be reinforced through the sport, and more specifically through professional wrestling.

If you feel that something is offensive to a particular group, deal with it.

Except you know, the boxers choose to do this as a way to pay the bills. By banning boxing your putting these people out of the job and destroying a rather profitable industry. So yeah.
Also if you ban it, underground illegal boxing matches will ensue. Obviously.

It is abhorrent that we have gotten rid of the Colosseum but maintain boxing. The fact that it ''entertains'' people is a very dark commentary on what Western society has devolved into. Society should not allow profiteers (match hosts, corporations, advertisers etc) to make big bucks by encouraging and promoting people to fight each other as a spectacle. People have gotten hurt and will continue to get hurt; it is also a shameless promotion of violence and physicality, tasteless in all respects.

I believe that boxing should be banned. It would be for the boxers' own good.

Ban everything where physical fighting can and will ensue.
