Yes, erwtensoep does literally mean pea soup. Snert is the more informal word used for this specific soup.

That's the moment we lock the thread usually, yes.

It's not a hard rule though, if a thread ends up at 501,502 or so, it's not the end of the world. The limit is arbitrary and mostly for technical reasons. Somewhere between 500 and 1000 it puts a lot of strain on the server.
