Just a curious homosexual guy here looking to learn:

Is there a widely accepted theory regarding the genetic or psychological causes and/or development of Transsexuality?

In a related question, is there any scientific study or base that could suggest that Transsexuality is simply a recessesive genetic trait like homosexuality?
Or perhaps hormonal?

Prenatal hormone imbalances are thought to be a factor. Trans people have different brain patterns to other people of their sex. Like many things in psychology, nobody really knows the exact magic combination of factors.

I believe in the hormone imbalance since they said I had a 90% chance of being AFAB in the womb. In other words, the markers were either cis female or trans.

I have often heard transgender people and others asserting that gender and biological sex are not the same thing. I have always wondered what the basis of this idea is. It doesn't seem to be something that is provable either way. I'm genuinely interesting in learning what the reasoning behind this idea is.

Because they feel that the body they have is not what they should have. We don't know exactly why this is. An excess or deficiency of certain hormones in the womb may well be one factor. All we do know is that some people with vaginas feel that they are men, some people with penises feel they are women, and people of both sexes feel that they belong to neither gender.

I understand that many people feel that the body they have is not what they should have, but why does that mean that they are correct in their belief? Isn't it also possible that these people are simply mistaken, for whatever reason?

Science even says so. So a transgal or a transboys just accurately perceiving something thats invisible to the rest of people.

I'm kinda having to make a tough decision. I can be referred to Nottingham now and be there by year's end, but when I ask about the non clinical stuff they say "well come and see".

I've heard some horror stories about the difficulty of access to clinics in the UK, and given the whole Brexit thing the future of the entire NHS is shaky, so I'd generally say "go while the going's good". Being able to go from referral to consultation in less than three months also seems good to me, although that may be coloured by my own long-ass wait.

It depends what other options are open, I guess, and what "non-clinical stuff" covers.

I got referred to the gender clinic, then I can get referred to a psychiatrist. I will start laser soon. Planning to get rid of all facial hair plus get my eyebrows right. After 6 months-1 year of HRT this will be my new haircut:

Do you actually know what you want to do though? My concern is that you're just going to cut yourself off and not actually try anything because you're too anxious and don't know where to start. You've gotten yourself into a cycle where you say something about how you're frustrated or upset or anxious, and then apologise like you've done something wrong, and then become unresponsive to people's attempts to help you. I'd like to help you, I think everyone would, but you to want to be helped first.
