I guess that's true. The newcomers are usually ignored~~

Some of them are usually just one offs who want to take "FIrst" post of the new TET almost as if it's some kind of honor.

It's more a lack of ambition. I'm sure we've all got some non-existent claim-to-fame we thought was more important at the time. It's part of growing up. I once got a mention in a well known gamer blog. I care not, now. Once the novelty wears off, you lose interest.

Not event the novelty some go for a claim to fame type thing. Like that blog, once someone doesn't care about that type of fame they don't care about the mention anymore. Not speaking for you of course.

I think it's just a part of growing up. Some people want to make a bigger and bigger mark on the World, and we all have a different idea of what an important mark is. Being first in a thread might seem more important to some, and far less to others.

That's called a false sense of achievement. That said, Xbox Live, Steam and in-game achievements are built upon them. In fact it's the very foundation of gaming, so it's cultural too.

I'm a completionist, if I don't have a achievement I don't feel like I did anything in the game besides the bare minimum, so I disagree that it's the same. IT's true that it doesn't matter in the long run but we all have our hobbies that don't matter.
