I imagine a lot of the citizens that died in 9/11 were born after WWII, so it's not like they did anything wrong. And that's just that. You can't punish average civilians for something their government did during a war over half a century ago.

I will say though that maybe had America handled the Middle East differently, and just Americans handling foreign nations in general differently, maybe there wouldn't have been a motive for it.
