However, seeing 102 Minutes that Changed the World last night, how truly horrible it must have been, especially to see it unfolding like that...

And I was nine- all I remember was that I was in school when we were all told to have a moment of silence for no explained reason, and only learned about the attack when I came home two hours latter.
Our school never had a moment of silence, they stop teaching and had us watch the whole thing going down live on tv. Watched the 2nd plane hit and everything.

To not discuss the causes and aftermath of 9/11 is to do a disservice to the victims of the attacks.

It isn't even remotely true. You could not possibly read this thread and come to the conclusion that nobody gives a fuck about others' suffering.

Except, hilariously enough, you and your "you can't talk about Chile or anyone who was unjustly killed in the American response to 9/11".

Of course we give a fuck about other people suffering. It's just that most of us are capable of acknowledging that Americans are not the only people that suffer, and indeed are not the only people who suffered as a result of the 9/11 attacks.

So, we aren't allowed to look at 9/11 in context as that is "bullshit". What the fuck is this thread about then, unless it is just you trying to show how patriotic and nationalistic you are by exploiting one of our nation's worse tragedy to show just how sad it makes you fourteen years on, proving to all of us just how much of a red-blooded American you are, and how patriotic, and how much you deserve a pat on the head.

Honestly, I think that the greatest tragedy of 9/11 is that it gave the country another way to paint anybody who does anything but salute the flag and sing the anthem as a vile, anti-American traitor dead set on annihilating the country.

You, evidently, are the only one who knows suffering, which is why you are exploiting it for all its worth- to extoll your patriotism, to control every aspect of this discussion, to silence others- the difference between 9/11 and a cow, the old joke goes, is that you can't milk a cow for fourteen years.

No, but I've seen people who lost their. People who were suppose to have a life but it was virtually destroyed on that one fateful day. If you're not an American, get out. Now, the question has been turned, have you lost anyone from war?

Friendly suggestion: if you want something purely about remembrance, for your relatives and other people who died in the Towers and on the planes, I'd recommend either real life or Facebook.

On NSG, you can't just put up a thread about 9/11, try and control the terms of debate and try and shut out discussion of the causes and consequences, however deep/sincere your personal grief and your wish to express it might be. NSG doesn't work like that. Hopefully it never will.
