St. Louis dominated the Brewers, who have been brewing beer, thinking that they'd win today's game.

Let's be honest, any time anyone expects the Brewers to win, they've a better chance of being wrong than right.

Brewer's players might as well be brewing coffee or beer in a coffee shop or a bar to save their faces.

What's brewing in Milwaukee? Another losing season, that's what.

Why's Will Smith still even in that team? He should be traded. After cheating by rubbing a mysterious ointment on this hand during a game, he should never go back on the mound.

Uh

1. His WAR is 0.3 after six games. Obviously that's going to go up. Look at a season in which he's batted more than twenty times
2. WAR includes defense...?

Exactly. WAR only takes into account the offensive merits of a MLB player. It completely ignores his defensive merits. Although Daniel Murphy may be average in terms of offense, he nevertheless lacks defensive technique, thus making him less worth than the contract value, although given his lackluster defense, he should be paid even less.

Defense is important, I'll admit, but I'd rather have a good offensive player who struggles on defense than a good defensive player who struggles on offense. For example, I used to get frustrated to no end with the Cardinal insistence in putting Pete Kozma into the lineup. The guy was a great defensive shortstop, but his batting average was consistently about .200 or lower. He made some defensive plays, but he could put an end to the Cardinals' scoring chances almost as fast as a pitcher.

Offense is important; however, nowadays in MLB, you see many well-rounded players, or players who are adept at both offense and defense. You see Yoenis Cespedes of the Mets hitting single and doubles often as well as making long-throw outs from the outfield. In fact, Jake Arrieta can hit home runs, while pitching like a Cy Young winner. Murphy could have been known as a highly offensive, thus a skillful player about thirty or forty years ago, but, nowadays, there are just so many well-rounded players that players like him should be excluded, not to mention be given a much cheaper contract.

You've made your position clear. I'm not saying he deserves the contract he got. (Honestly I haven't looked at it, so I have no opinion.) Even though it's a long game, runs can sometimes be hard to come by, especially if your team doesn't hit a lot of homers. I'd rather have the guy who can potentially keep an inning going than the guy who can potentially end it with solid defense. That's just my view.

I respect the fact that, if you were to choose between a highly offensive player and a highly defensive player, you would choose the highly offensive player. Although, as much as I like offense, I would not like to see a player produce a few points and then have his opponents make a comeback, just because he makes crucial, defensive errors.

I'd prefer a balance in both offensive and defensive skills, a player like Dee Gordon.

Sanchez will improve the team when he's healthy. He can't get hurt again.

Yeah, as far as I know, he doesn't have a chronic arm injury.

He gets paid $16 million. That is even less than Tanaka's, and Sanchez is the No. 3 starter.
