I'd go for a 3-year, 24-5 million.

That's more reasonable. Murphy's should've been a 3 year, 14 million contract.

The Giants win 9 to 6 over the Dodgers, thus taking the series with three to one.

I know Cueto started for the Giants, but who started for LAD?

Somehow, I have trouble viewing the boxscore in the MLB site. :(

Dear People Proposing "New" Contracts for Recently-Signed Players:

The value of one WAR in the free-agent market is ~$7.5 million, IIRC

So, for example, a player that's consistently a decent bet for 2 WAR would be worth ~$15 million per year. Of course, due to aging, this would probably be a bit lower, but the point stands.

Also, small sample size is a thing

His WAR is 0.3. Essentially, his contract price should be precisely $2.25M. He's lucky, if he's getting paid more than three times the amount.

He's forgetting entirely about his defense, which remains horrific. Point stands at 2.25 million.

The Pirates have excellent scouts; they know value when other teams do not. Look how they plundered the Yankees, who thought they could do without Martin and then Cervelli. Of COURSE those guys did better with the Pirates than with the Yankees; they had better position coached by far.

I'm still mad at the Cardinals for letting Freese go. Some of the deals they've made have been tough, but made sense. Trading away Allen Craig and Shelby Miller, for instance. Trading Freese, on the other hand, was stupid.

I agree with you. Here was a clutch player with heart, who gave himself up for the team. I'd take him any day, metrics or not.

Watching the Red sox vs Orals because there's nothing else to watch.

The announcers are really excited over the fact that Fenway Park now meets minimum standards.

Price still looks like a good pitcher, I miss him on the Blue Jays. :(

There's the Pirates and Tigers too, but Verlander hasn't pitched well and it's not close.

At least in Boston, he'll be the curse there that screws up their postseason. Mets have the Dim curse, and Nats may catch that.

The St. Louis offense is finally showing signs of life. 3 runs in the 1st inning, I don't care if it is against the Brewers.

Well, the Brewers' season is over

<Koyro> (Democratic Koyro) NSG senate is a glaring example of why no one in NSG should ever have a position of authority
The Emerald Dawn wrote:"Considering Officer Krupke was patently idiotic to charge these young men in the first place, we're dropping the charges in the interest of not wasting any more of the Judiciary's time with farcical charges brought by officers who require more training on basic legal principles."

In the meantime, since starting 0-3, St. Louis is now on a four game win streak.
