Work at a museum? Host divers on the bottom of the sea?
IRL, I load trucks for UPS, but it's more fun to do my Monitor schtick than to just say I load trucks.
I'm a "she."

I was kind of curious to see what the response would be in character. I find it entertaining.

Most of the time it's driving people around in minivans and asking people to be quiet, but also location audio mixing and other 'tech' jobs.
I also make videos for local companies for their websites and Yellowpages.com and shit. Boring videos but I don't get paid a lot and am not given a lot of time...and also, how interesting can one make a dentist anyway?
To fill the gaps as of late I've also been teaching saxophone.
Occasionally I'll also do stagehand work. Not a fan.
Every now and then one of my plays makes me a little bit of money.
Prior to college (where I acquired these 'lucrative' skills...) I've been a buyer at a record store, ticket office supervisor at a live arts venue, projectionist, stage manager at recital hall, a children's performer where I dressed up as a Ninja Turtle and went to kids birthday parties, and a largely unsuccessful jazz saxophonist.
Currently I'm trying to pull of a relocation to...sigh...LA because I work on far, far too much reality tv and want to work on scripted programming. Turns out that even if you have a bit of money saved up it's hard to move to a new city. You need a job to get a place and a place to get a job. Though even when I find work when you tell people that you're freelance they hear 'unemployed' anyway. Trying to find a place still.

If you use Craigslist to find a room in a shared apartment, they are usually more open to letting you move in without proof of employment, rather than renting a place by yourself and having to deal with a landlord directly and a rental application. Maybe you could do that to start out, and then get your own place once you're more established.

That's actually exactly what I've been doing because even studios are *$&#$% expensive in LA...which, okay, I've lived in San Francisco, but still. Most of them still want proof of income. Or are not crazy about interviewing their roommate over Skype since I can't be there to go around to see the place (I assume from them not responding to my texts or emails).
Or the worst one, scams. Apparently there's this scam where you post a perfectly reasonable sounding room listing, when you respond they ask you to join this scam sight called roomster or something like that which acts like a 'charge per contact' dating site for roommates. As far as I can tell they're out of Georgia because there are a suspiciously large number of people in the DTLA area with Georgia area codes.
Also, being a woman is gross...like, you live in a world that is grosser than it needs to be. There are regular "female only" ads that I totally get, like...stranger in your house, you'd like it to be the same gender, cool. But then there are the female only ads that are...gross. Like...no bones about the fact that the roommate situation is for boning.
Not knowing the names of the cities that make up the LA sprawl makes finding listings close to where I'm likely to work (there's a special effects guy I worked for in the Bay that has joined up with a production group that I think wants to hire me in LA proper) kind of tedious. But I'll just keep hammering away. Someone will say yes eventually.
