Being home didn't last as you can see, but we tried it a couple times, which always set me back due to the ridiculous belief that taking time off somehow diminishes one's skills.

That's one of many things that I'll never understand about the way hiring managers think.

Me going into business for myself is a necessity, even though I've wanted to do so for years. After the last job, and in part exacerbated by it, I ended up with some health issues that had me flat outta circulation for over a year. If you think anyone was gonna hire me not knowing what days I might or might not be somewhat functional, you got another thing coming. I'm still struggling. I have no idea if this venture will be successful enough to work. But I'm giving it an honest go because as with all the other times, I gotta do something.

Working for yourself is great. I did it for a while, but I had to go back to a regular job because I was selling stuff outdoors, New England has winter, and I wasn't making enough during the summer to make up for not being able to sell in the winter. Then some people that run a food truck decided they wanted to build a permanent restaurant/snack bar, and they took over the space I was using. Plus the patterns of foot traffic changed because some stores went out of business in the neighborhood, and it has really messed me up.

Currently a teacher and a journalist. Other recent jobs include system administrator, webdesigner, scientific consultant. Trying to set up my own educational centre in the near future.
