Why isn't your history Afro-centric yet?

So it turns out that the "normal" way of seeing history is full of racist propaganda. Many people from the ancient world, such as ancient Egyptians, ancient Greek philosophers, the virgin Mary, Jesus Christ, the people who brought Europe out of the dark ages and taught them how to wash hands and not be dirty, and many others were black or used the intellectual work of black people. By not teaching this reality, schools are perpetuating racism and white supremacy. People need to be taught that what we today associate with "white civilization" is in fact the work of black people. Every day whites who stole the ideas of blacks, such as Elvis Presley, are glorified. We put slave-owners on our money. Our discourse about the past is owned by the white man, but is built on the stolen labor and land of people of color.

However if we could change our discourse it could lead to black people finally getting the recognition they deserve, and stop the whites from stealing everything and taking all the credit. So are you Afro-centric or racist?

Mod edit: changed the poll options.

I'd tell you to get a blog, but I doubt anyone would take you seriously.

Are you saying Jesus, Mary, the Europeans, and Greeks and Egyptians were black?

Is this guy trolling or serious?

So I'm either "Afro-Centric" or "Racist" according to these poll options...Well this clearly isn't biased in any way.

This may be interesting for you to read. I know it's just speculation, but so is your OP :/

Anyhow, this is a very well written entry and should interest a lot of people.

Please don't tag me for racism or anything like that. I'm simply presenting a counter to the argument proposed by the OP.

You will also notice he called the ancient Greeks and Egyptians, feudal Europeans, and Jesus were all black.

Totally not biased or racist.

Jesus and Mary were kind of darkish, and Egypt is in Africa... that's pretty much the closest.

Also, the reason that most history in the western world is Eurocentric rather than Afrocentric is that most of the western world (and indeed, much of the rest of it too) is either in Europe, or was at one point owned by Europe, making the history of Europe an extension of their own.

Poe's law is in full effect. I've seen people like this, and some were trolling, and others weren't.

Jesus and Mary were not black, they were Jewish. Europeans were always white, as were the Greeks. The Egyptians at the very least could be a mix of races, as they are in North Africa.

I give good sources whereas you give none but dismiss my facts out of hand. Maybe people would not take me seriously because they are racist?

Rebuttal

You realize the slave trade was propagated by blacks, right? The West African civilizations, such as Mali, went to war with other tribes in central Africa, kidnapped them and sold them as slaves to the Europeans. Hence, the Triangle Trade was born. Also about the whole "white-washed history" thing, there are two books you should read before you argue about any of these things, the first is "Cannibals and Kings" by Marvin Harris, and the second is "How the Irish Saved Civilization" by Thomas Cahill. Read those, and if you can support your claims against the arguements, or reasons for the things you said, then by god I might be compelled to consider your opinion important. Also, you are correct about Jesus and the other biblical characters, they would've have to have been Hebrew, Arabic or North African.

We dismiss your evidence because there is evidence that Europeans have always been white, that Mary and Jesus were Jewish, and that the Egyptians were not completely black, they were usually tan.

Erm, it just happens that European history is better documented, some of those people were not black nor influenced by them, and they actually were the power brokers of the world 1500 to 1945. Plus, my history class spends a lot of time discussing the civil rights movement, years on the cons of slavery, a whole unit on the Kingdoms in Africa 100 BC - 1300 AD, and recent stuff.

Also, I'm pretty sure none of those say Jesus was black, either.

You really didn't. Unless you can make a decent argument as opposed to shouting "RACIST", I'll keep laughing at you.

I'll have you know I took an AP European History course and passed with an A.

And I do plenty of my own reading up on history because as you'll see in my sig I like this kind of shit.

And I assure you the claims you're making are preposterous.

Not trolling they were black. That you are so dumbfounded by the idea of black Egyptians and Jews is caused by the racism in education and society.

No, because your assumptions are actually racist. Ancient Greeks are largely the same as southern Europeans today but, ethnically speaking, they were never "African". Neither were the Virgin Mary or Jesus Christ, who were most likely "Arab", as were the Moors who were from North Africa and were either Arab or of mixed Berber-Arab ancestry (because the Moor's conquest of the Iberian peninsular was after the Arab conquest of North Africa).

Hahahahahhahaa. Jesus and Mary were Jewish in ethnicity, almost all ethnic Jews are whitish. The Egyptians were tan, very few blacks existed in the area above the Sahara.

I'm pretty sure Jesus was of Middle eastern origin, but there is no way he was black, not trying to be offensive or anything, apologies if i am.
