An old name for Egypt was Kem'et (km.t). It literally means "black". Though that can also be interpreted to mean fertile, "black" soil, corresponding with the ancient Egyptian Black Land/Red Land. It's possible that ancient Egyptians were black pre-Arabian invasions and pre-Ptolemy but we have no real way of knowing this.

Many people from the ancient world, such as ancient Egyptians, ancient Greek philosophers, the virgin Mary, Jesus Christ, the people who brought Europe out of the dark ages and taught them how to wash hands and not be dirty, and many others were black or used the intellectual work of black people.
