Aw :(

It's fine. By the time I could have gotten to know him, his personality and memories were dead anyways.
What's funny is that he actually had this whole collection of neckties that got passed down to my dad after he died. It's something like, 80 or 100 neckties. My dream is to one day wear all of them.

Alzheimer's is a very sad disease. My great grandma couldn't even remember that she had children and grand children. She thought she was still seven years old. The poor woman would breakdown into tears because "she didn't want to move back the town of Sauðárkrókur (she grew up there when she was young).

It's terrible indeed. My dad said that he used to be such a fun person, but it seemed as though his memories had been wiped like a chalkboard. The scientific community has purportedly found a promising eventual treatment for it, so there may be hope for the future.

He pretty much laid mattresses in his backyard for several years so he could clean it.
Although that is a pretty accurate description of that idiom.

The first one at 6,618 pages.

My dad was pretty chipper during our visit to his house to clean up the place, and he cried at neither his father's funeral nor at his mother's. What's weird is that he was really close to them too.
